Dehen

@tody looking now … thanks for the mention.

It certainly has to do with how they treat the wool.
Andersen Andersen claims to have some special process that makes it less itchy.
My wife has two Dehen wool sweaters, and they're pretty rough. I decided not to get one after she got hers.
I tried a Heimat sweater at the Heritage Post tradeshow, also too itchy for my taste.
Again, my wife has two different moto sweaters by A Piece Of Chic, and they are noticeably different from each other.
Wool is certainly a difficult subject... -
@tody had a look just now … do you own one of their sweaters? Looking at the Skipper Jacket now …
-
@Brandrea I just saw that Lost & Found carries Anderson Anderson. Back yard retailer and might be worth the drive
Too funny … I was just there last Thursday. I went specifically to try on the RMC J24 …. Beautiful jacket, but the new cut is quite boxy (for me). I always wanted to try one and glad I did … but when I looked in the mirror I thought Brian, you’re trying too hard lol.
FWIW they told me that there will be a price increase on tne J 24 this fall (3100 now going to 4000).
I will definitely get down there again and have a look at the Anderson Anderson, Thanks!

@tody great fit on you man!
-
@Brandrea If you have any sensitivity to wool whatsoever, you will hate the Dehen. If you are still determined to give it a shot, another option is to look on Grailed for a like-new preowned...that is where I sold mine and the value tanked like an anchor. I sold it like new for $235 (MSRP $435). That way you don't have so much "skin" in the game...pun intended!
-
@SaddleSC fair point.
I think I’ve decided to hold off for now. I pretty much know it’s not going to work for me, but man they sure look fantastic!
On the other hand … it wouldn’t be the first time I bought something that looks fantastic but half knowing it won’t work out…

I'm reading that the division road might have a different midweight fabric compared to the ones from Dehen direct. Can anyone comment on this and if they're really different and specifically if the scratchiness is the same, better, or worse?
really IH just needs to make a shawl collar cardigan i guess.

There's a thread for recommendations like this!

@pechelman Top of the pile! And who knows what @Alex might feel like doing now that he's at the helm. It certainly never hurts to ask, and the worst anyone can say is "no." Also, one of the best things about IH is that they listen to their customers. We don't get everything we want, but we get more than I've gotten from any other brand.

Dehen Sashiko bomber incoming for F/W from the looks of it…
-
@Mizmazzle Textured fabrics in general are having a moment right now. It makes sense that we're seeing so much sashiko with our favorite brands.

It finally came. Thanks to all for the sizing feedback. I’m really glad that I went for medium. There can be debate regarding the overall length (I actually wanted it to be longer compared to the images on their website) and the shoulders could be more trim for my liking, but on the other hand the sleeves are very much IH style and fit quite snug. I will be able to use it with Henley or thermal and UHF and I’m sure that would be impossible if I went for small.
Yo dawg, I am thinking about purchasing this same sweater as you have pictured in your original post. I was also thinking about going with my usual UHF size as you did so I can layer and also wear it as an oversized piece. I prefer my cardigans to be loose and do not like a fitted look for me. All eight of my UHFs are XXL but I see the measurements for the XXL sweater on the Dehen size chart to be 50" shoulders which seems maybe too big (even for oversized). It is also their largest size so I'm not sure if this would actually be too big. @Mizmazzle maybe you can chime in. I'm thinking maybe I should just go with the XL which has 47" shoulders. Length at 29.5 would be about halfway past my pants back pockets I would guess which seems right.
Karol I see that you wear medium with your UHFs and chose the same with your sweater. I like how yours looks, like a nice cozy fit. Any advise would be super rad my dudes...thank you in advance.

@Oaktavia I have two things to add:
-
I'm M in IH UHF Workshirt. For western I have to ether go for L (works with OD stuff) or pass because L is to large.
-
The Dehen 1920 size chart is for the body measurements, not garment dimensions as we have with IH. It took me way to long to realize this
I cant wait to see You rocking this cardigan!! All the pairings with the awesome stuff that You have is going to be epic!
