Just finished Poor Things. Highly recommended… along the lines of a twisted Benjamin button/Edward scissorhands.
-
@flannel-slut Good to hear…its on our list. I tend to like stuff Emma Stone chooses to do. Loved The Favourite.
-
@flannel-slut that sounds interesting
-
I'm psyched to see it, just waiting til I can rent/stream — seems like buying's currently the only option, no?
(or seeing in a theater)
-
@SKT I need to make a point of watching the favorite. Really enjoyed the Lobster as well. Yorgos puts out some wild stuff.
-
@steelworker definitely does not follow the Hollywood tropes. Worth putting on the to-watch list
-
@popvulture should be released to rent next week.

Curious to see what he did with the lighting on this one — I know he’s done most (if not all?) of his stuff with natural light. I heard that due to union regulations, there’d be a union lighting guy just standing around on the set with nothing to do. Found that whole concept pretty fascinating.

Zone of Interest is defo worth a watch. Not an easy watch but god it sticks with you for long time after it. Still thinking about it and it was two weeks ago that I saw it.
-
Read a lot about it @Crispy-Heron think I have to see at as well
-
Loved Dune 2 and look forward to Dune: Messiah. Villeneuve just crushes it. His treatments are so good, so visionary and tasteful , with such impact. The fact that he was able to do more than justice to Bladerunner in a sequel was really impressive and he’s done the same with both Dune films.
I like David Lynch’s version but Villeneuve is on another level and his vision better aligns to what’s in my head having read the book.

I have tickets for Dune II in IMAX for this Friday. I can’t wait. I’ve been looking forward to this for 2 years. It’s the 70mm film too. The 2 hour drive will be worth it. I love how Denis’ films are dark but still stunning
-
@Crispy-Heron on the list. Planning to see anatomy of a fall first
-
@Tago-Mago - personally, Anatomy of a Fall was a disappointment but Sandra Huller is very good in it.
-
@Crispy-Heron interesting, heard only good things so far, about Sandra Hüller‘s performance in particular
-
@Crispy-Heron I visited Auschwitz a few years ago after a doing WWII trip in France and Poland and that stayed with me for a few months. Is it worth seeing in the cinema or waiting until its out?
-
@jiminstitches - go and see in the cinema. It adds to the overall experience. It is quite claustrophobic to view as there are not too many scenes outside of the Hoss’s home. But I think that’s the point.
-
Dune II was absolutely awesome. Especially in IMAX -
The plot on this one looks interesting…
