First stomach bug from nursery. Thanks Baby H.
Cheesed off that all she had was a couple of pukes and one bad nappy. Mrs H dodged it entirely (for now...?). I get to spend yesterday in bed with aches, a fever, sweats, and the other fun that comes with a stomach bug. Doesn't seem fair.

I was a bit lost this morning with what to do with my 4 1/2 year old son, with the wife needing to catch up on some work.
Ended up printing out one of these free forestry hunt sheets from the net - 4 hours later and I’m not sure where the time has gone! Turns out there a lots of these types of ‘check list’ children’s pdfs online for free covering various topics and themes.Absolutely freezing outside so we were both layered up to the hills; but I always think the cold weather makes coming back home so much nicer and instils that sense of gratitude in him of actually having a warm home to come back to.
The sheet (crosses and ticks both permitted apparently)
Looking for insects under a rock
Of course the opportunity to layer up some IH (295, 293, 888, M51)
Chilling by the lake (those two Canadian Geese were aptly named Mr. Wet and Mr. Angry - they are clearly used to being fed and weren’t happy that we weren’t feeding them!)
Interesting/thought-provoking sign on a big old tree

The only present that my wife requested today for Mother’s Day…. Child-free time

Haha I shudder at the thought of the day when my son is old enough to want a phone 🫠
How was your throw - did it get far?

This is a fact!

@long_john86 haven’t done it yet but the time is nigh

just started our lad this school term doing Chinese classes one afternoon after school and he's starting football ( soccer) and basketball, which is all costing extra but not as much as the OHSC fees were, just love how I seem to work full time for nothing with all the fees and charges he racks up for me

Channelling the sentiment of @SKT earlier post… anyone ever thrown their kid in a lake?
Been one of those days/weekends….

@long_john86 would it help? In there eyes.. the more water the more fun.. i never forget we went to the forest for a big stroll with our daughter who’s 2 years old. She saw a big big puddle of water and she ran straight to it. From that moment everything was in slow motion.. my life flew by.. mental breakdown.. all of that in seconds. And then she went for the big puddle.. for like 110%.. running, jumping like there was no joy in her life till that moment. She laughs and laughs and laughs and suddenly she realizes the effect of water and the dirt. She cried, and said now i’m all wet and dirty(in her own vocabulary) and that’s the moment where you think.. told you so but hey.. you don’t wanna be rude and just ask her: and who’s idea was this?? Satisfying mind, crying daughter and no stroll.

@Heavy_blue ah what a memory. Very heartwarming! Man they always manage to find the muddiest of the puddles, right?
Unfortunately not so much of that this weekend - just pure 4.5 year old defiance! 🫠🫠🫠 -

@GraemeE We only have one child and are very much one-and-done. Juggling two of the same age you must have all the skills and the tricks to share with us!?
