IHJ-49 - Split Steer Modified Type III Jacket - Black or Brown
-
@TheDefaultState mine should be ready to pick up any day now! Every call that hits my phone I’m hoping is the shop saying it’s ready!!!
-
@Heavy_blue haha thanks. This thing smells so good too. I take it off and my shirt smells like leather
-
@Mizmazzle yeah I bet the anticipation is killing! Did you get that white spot out? I’m guessing when they shorten the sleeve most of that will get cut out anyway??
-
@TheDefaultState this is interesting. Mine doesn’t smell very strongly at all. And not like opening a box with new boots in it. More like a subtle light smell.
-
@Mizmazzle yeah that’s right. It’s not a strong smell…how you described yours sounds about right. I notice it from time to time as I’m wearing it. Then when I take it off I can still pick it up on my shirt. It’s just like a clean leather smell.
I use this talc powder called Clubman/Pinaud on my upper body after I take a shower. It has an old school barbershop smell. I think the jacket smell may be mixing with that a little too.
-
@TheDefaultState just got the call from the furrier!! Jacket is ready!! Fingers crossed my friend. Fingers crossed!
-
@Mizmazzle WOW!!! Looks great man! I think the length is perfect! Huge improvement from before. Are you happy with it?
-
@TheDefaultState yeah man. Couldn’t be happier. Perfect sleeve length honestly.
-
@Mizmazzle yeah enjoy it! Looks great!
-
@Mizmazzle oh yeah brother! Very nice!
-
@Mizmazzle glad you're happy with it! I was curious how the cuffs would look after alteration, but seems flawless.
Texture of the suede really shining in this natural light too!
-
@Mizmazzle definitely better now. Any creative ideas for the off cuts?
-
@tody he took off 1.75”…which is nuts. The sleeves still look just a tad long in the pics, but once I lift my arm just a little they come up quickly. Driving etc. they are well above the wrist. So the length functions perfectly.
@ARNC that’s a great question about the scraps. I was kind of thinking about doing some water tests on at least one scrap. See how the split steer holds up to rain and sun etc. Do you have any other ideas?
-
@Mizmazzle hang a peice out somewhere completely exposed in your garden? See how it looks after a year or exposure to the elements?
I'd love to do this with a denim jacket one day...
-
@T4920 that’s right in line with what I was thinking. I still have the three samples Deb sent me from Simmons Bilt of their three new natural veg tan leather options pegged to my fence out in the yard. They’ve been up there for almost a year. I can make that my Wall of Leather Abuse.
-
@Mizmazzle share a pic in the evo of other brands thread!
-
@Mizmazzle the testing sounds like a great idea. I didn’t have any specific thoughts. I don’t know your skill level (mine is pretty much zero) or whether the size/shape of the scraps suggests anything. Something for Carl maybe?
