IHJ-49 - Split Steer Modified Type III Jacket - Black or Brown
-
@Mizmazzle glad you're happy with it! I was curious how the cuffs would look after alteration, but seems flawless.
Texture of the suede really shining in this natural light too!
-
@Mizmazzle definitely better now. Any creative ideas for the off cuts?
-
@tody he took off 1.75”…which is nuts. The sleeves still look just a tad long in the pics, but once I lift my arm just a little they come up quickly. Driving etc. they are well above the wrist. So the length functions perfectly.
@ARNC that’s a great question about the scraps. I was kind of thinking about doing some water tests on at least one scrap. See how the split steer holds up to rain and sun etc. Do you have any other ideas?
-
@Mizmazzle hang a peice out somewhere completely exposed in your garden? See how it looks after a year or exposure to the elements?
I'd love to do this with a denim jacket one day...
-
@T4920 that’s right in line with what I was thinking. I still have the three samples Deb sent me from Simmons Bilt of their three new natural veg tan leather options pegged to my fence out in the yard. They’ve been up there for almost a year. I can make that my Wall of Leather Abuse.

@Mizmazzle share a pic in the evo of other brands thread!
-
@Mizmazzle the testing sounds like a great idea. I didn’t have any specific thoughts. I don’t know your skill level (mine is pretty much zero) or whether the size/shape of the scraps suggests anything. Something for Carl maybe?
-
whoa----1.75 inches is pretty nuts! Length looks really good now for sure.
Enjoy! -
@dinobarnesberlin thanks holmes. It was a huge relief to get it back and have the work they did come out so well. Old school furrier knows his biz!
-
@Mizmazzle its an heirloom piece for sure. Sometimes those old guys know their stuff. Rock it hard:
-
@Mizmazzle That came out great. Looks perfect now!
