@Graeme I love my GoRuck Samurai and was wondering if you had the details on the Berserker. I must not be looking in the right place…
Can you help me?
@goosehd all I know is that it's due in the summer or fall of this year, and it'll be based around the GR1.
There's also a line in the collaborations calendar (which you can find in their Facebook group) that reads: GORUCK x Carryology Samurai Expansion (Summer)
-
@Seul I used a very similar sling by Patagucci for years til the trims all went to hell. Excellent bag you have there.
-
@Graeme @mclaincausey I was intrigued by the MW Mars bag made for Nasa and told my wife how much I would love to have one in a day bag size. I guess I fell for the all too convenient story feeding into a collab, but I guess it worked. I ended up pre ordering and HOPE it shows up for our London trip in July.
As for carryology and their writing… it’s completely obnoxious and it is incredibly inconvenient. I find myself having to read it all 3-4 times to figure out wtf he is talking about.
Anyone get the sling?
-
@mclaincausey reminds me of that SouthPark episode where everyone smelled their farts out of a wine glass
-
@Anesthetist …good reference! I was also thinking about the Seinfeld episodes and the Peterman catalogs.
-
@goosehd oh yeah man, I love those episodes. I’ve been rewatching Seinfeld and it’s still so good
-
@mclaincausey This made me chuckle! Couldn’t be truer Not quite as bad as Vollebak though
-
I love those Patagonia slings too. I have a black one, and now so does my girlfriend because she liked mine so much. Yes, we look super cool together.
-
@Cutlasshound I gotta say tho, I have the Solar Charged jacket and it’s pretty cool
-
@Cutlasshound OMG. Half my inbox storage is Volleback screeds. I’m not even sure when I gave them me email
-
@Anesthetist I'll be interested in hearing what the NASA bag is like when it arrives. Mission Workshop make nice gear.
-
@goosehd I bought the gen1 Solar off their clearance rack so it is a little large on me but can fit over layers and can cinch down a little. It unfortunately isnt very breathable so it is surprisingly warm for being so thin. It does glow like a son of a gun after even a few min of sunlight,
-
@Anesthetist what a wormhole… I didn’t know that these kinds of materials were being used in clothing. It’s fun to look through, but the prices are kind of crazy (understatement)…
It would have to be on clearance to make that kind of leap, although at one point I said the same of IH.
How is the fit and finish? Worth it at sale prices?
-
@Graeme I’m VERY excited about it. As a space geek/ retro space age nerd I cant wait to get it in a couple months. I have heard nothing but good things about Mission and as one redditor said, “this bag as your first MW is like losing your virginity to Selma Hayek.”
-
@goosehd I will take some pics and make a Vollebak thread to keep this one clean.
Overall I think it is a very cool jacket with a neat party trick. Innovative and creative? Yes. Will it outperform goretex? I dont think so.
But….is it meant to? I think it’s just a fun, weird niche coat more intended to make people stare.
Volleback is a weird company. On one hand they make incredibly hard wearing gear, but on the other they make things to make you look like a butterfly or lightning bug. I guess it all fits under the umbrella of pushing the envelope, but it’s a bit odd and confusing to me. -

Now you're making me regret not getting one!
I've seen a few MW bags, both in the (long-departed) Carryology Store in Melbourne and at their workshop in SF, and they look very well made. I don't think that you'll be disappointed.

MW is awesome. I’d love one of the NASA bags myself if I had a use for it.
For Berlin, it was Defy VerBockel carry on with Rofmia chest glasses case and pouch attachments, 110L Ortlieb dry duffel checked bag, and a bunch of other bags for the rest of the family.
My only remaining bag want is a four roller carry on. I love my two wheel Briggs & Riley but need a 4 wheeler.

in the spirit of enabling , I thought some of you might dig this Rocky Mountain Featherbed pack.
