-
awesome boots
how old are yours ? -
Around 6 months however only wore them 3 times
-
One of my favorite pairs of engineers. About a year of occasional wear.
-
@Alexander
great boots
is it a retailer version? Looks a little different to my pair and the one from @Peterldavey .
the seems and stitching are very bright and the leather midsole and heel too . Also the leather doesn’t have that much grain , another leather maybe? I know there once was a black 444 in cowhide for example. -

@Luijim78
are those yours mate ? -
@Daniel-San no unfortunately it's listed on Grailed which I looked at some time ago, I only have a pair lot.444 in Black horsebutt
-
@Daniel-San yes, that‘s an edition made for standard & strange. It’s horsebutt in „crust“ which is basically just natural. They got substantially darker with wear and being exposed to sun. My particular pair is quite smooth but there were other sizes/ pairs with more grain - I guess it’s the nature of horse
-
@Luijim78
looks like the have that awesome grain too
hope they get restocked soon -
as temperatures rising 🥵 , needed a break from breaking in
-
those boots are absolutely beautiful
-
@Daniel-San so beautiful. I am still considering a pair of engineers and am between these, the lofgrens and zerrows. Can you compare to any of them? My concern is mostly that I can't stand too lose fitting shoes and a lot of heelslip and have small calves so the shaft may be too wobbly...
-
@FlavourFade
hey mate
I have the 444 the Lofgrens and Y2 engineers, so that might be helpful.
The 444 have the widest shaft and most heelslip compared to the others. The Lofgren have the narrowest shaft and little heelslip. The Y2 have a little smaller shaft than the 444 and have just a little heelslip if at all. But from my experience it’s gets better when they break in and the leather gets softer. If you want a super comfortable enginner from the beginning you should grab the Y2 , great soft leather ! If you want a narrow shaft to wear with tapered 777 or slim 555 jeans I think the Lofgren would be the way to go.
You can’t go wrong with the quality, they all are awesome boots for sure !! Haven’t had Zerrows personally so far, but as heard from other aficionados they are great as well .
In the end you have try cause it can all change with the shape of your feet and socks you wear and so on.
Hope this helps a little -
Thanks a lot @Daniel-San ! Very helpful. I lean towards Lofgrens because I mostly wear 555 and 777 as you mentioned. But will check out Y2! Did you size the Lofgrens like your Iron Rangers ?
