Helping my friend who just got his 666s,
some questions here.. cold or hot soak before wear?
and soak for how long?thanks guys!
these are questions you can answer when we see the pre-soak fitpics.
if they fit loose pre-soak you easily can hotsoak them for a half an hour.
if they do fit slim pre-soak, i would say do a coldsoak or exchange -

Hey guys,
i've been wearing and owning my 666 for about 6 months. Now I need it to be repaired, because the crotch seam ripped and I think that I shouldn't wait any longer as it gets worse. The problem is that most tailors are pretty particular about denim that hasn't bern washed for half a year. Would a soak be too bad?
-
er, yes.
please soak, wash or something your jeans before giving them to some poor soul to repair.
the jeans will be just fine

thanks monday.

I got my 666 the other day and I'm not sure what do soak/stretch wise. At the moment I can't do up all the buttons but I'm sure I will be ok after they have loosened up a bit as the same situation happened with my 634sr.
Should I hot soak or cold soak them before wearing them? Will a hot soak shrink them and I wont be able to get them on at all?

Sounds like you answered your own question…

@yen:
Will a cold soak do anything? I'm hoping it will soften them a bit.
Well since they are raw and unsanforized they need to touch water. If you were to wear them straight off the bat and not soak or wash them for say a year, the fibers would weaken much quicker and they would prob fall apart/ need repairs much sooner. At the very least they need to touch cold water which will give it minimal to no shrinkage. You could always warm soak just the legs or the whole pair, put them on damp, and wear to dry in order to stretch the waist out. Thing is, eventually they will need to go in warm/ hot water for a clean at which point, they will shrink up…
I would just cold soak the whole thing, wear them till dry for a little stretch, and then maybe warm soak from the pocket bags down. Just what I would do. Good luck!
