No hand warmers? I will quote Scripture in this case: "And he wept..."
-
Division Road is really missing out on the hand warmers. I would have gotten the original brown if it had it. They’re pretty much a necessity at this point. My only exception is a 10oz chambray. Lovely shirt otherwise. I’m sure the non hand warmer folks will enjoy this. It’s a great color way for sure

I think @Fadez nails it here: a CPO has hand warmers, does it not? So this is more like a heavier wool shirt, which is perfectly lovely, downright brilliant but not exactly a CPO as I see it. There's an old saw in the 19th century Royal Navy about leaving the pockets off the midshipmen's jackets so that they can't stand around at their leisure when they should be attentive. (You might recall a very young midshipman in the Master and Commander movie blowing on his cold hands, a nod to this tradition.)

The thing for me is placement for my big phone. In an outer wear I’d like it to be able to carry. Phone, wallet, keys, and headphones. The 4 pocket CPO does the trick. With a heavyweight fabric, I’d like to be able to do that. And @Graham the cigar brown is calling my name. It’s so beautiful. I may have to take your advice

If this shirt included hand warmer pockets the price would be closer to $600 I'd guess. I realize it's "close enough" already at $550, but hand pockets aren't free.
I have the Gun Club version of this and while I initially wished it had hand pockets, I'm now glad it doesn't. It's a classy yet casual wool flannel that's unparalleled in the shirt game. You don't know how great the fabric is until you see and feel it in person. It is 100/100.
Regarding the "CPO" naming of it, I asked this question on a live stream a few FW presentations ago and was quickly shot down by @Giles when I mentioned that a CPO has to have hand pockets. They can have hand pockets or not, they can have one chest pocket or 2. What us IH fans see when we think CPO is not the standard across the clothing industry.
The fit on this DR collab is different from how Haraki normally specs his shirts. A bit more flowy in the body when you get your chest measurement on point. I love as a stand alone button up, or I can easily wear it as a shirt jacket. I take my typical size XL in these but I know some sized down to accommodate the roomier cut.

From the information in this article: https://www.heddels.com/2019/10/under-the-cpo-the-quintessential-shirt-jacket/
The original 1930’s model’s did not have hand warmers and many only had one chest pocket. As Jeff mentioned, I feel it’s how we interpret “CPO” that may be at issue here.

@flannel-slut I feel ya. This will likely bump a FW shirt outta my life, but I don’t see how I pass on this beauty….
-
I will get over that I like pockets because this piece is just too extraordinary to pass by. My birthday is this week, as if I need an excuse. I may even get to Vahalla if I die wearing this---how could Odin deny me if I promise to lend it to him.
