IH-888-XHS - 25oz Selvedge Denim Medium/High Rise Tapered Cut Jeans - Indigo
-
@Mizmazzle Okay, yeah I don't think I'm running them through the washer because mine is a top loader and it always spins
-
@GardenState I use a top loader too. I put it on low spin (lowest setting on my machine) and stand at the ready for when it beeps and pull em straight out.
But we all have our ways so no doubt yours will be dope AF when you pull em up on your legs.
Stoked to check your fit pics!
-
@Mizmazzle Do you do that just for the agitation essentially?
-
@GardenState Yup! That agitation gets the max shrink out.
I like to give my jeans a full bore wash cycle right off the bat in the same style I plan to wash in the future so that I feel comfortable with any shrink I may get. Especially since I like to hem my jeans. Then after that first wash I rage em for like 6 months until the next wash for more high contrast fades. Again, just my method. But I like to make sure the shrink is set for how I plan to wash in the future as well as any alterations in length I make.
-
@Mizmazzle Post soak fit. A little wet still but when they're dry I'll fix the cuffs and such
-
@GardenState Nice man! How you feeling about them?
I didn't notice any presoak fit pics to compare.
Def let em dry all the way before wearing so as to avoid knee bags. I had this happen with the elbows of a jacket before...no biggie if it happens, just another soak to get the fabric back to where it belongs. -
@Mizmazzle I forgot to take a presoak fit pic. I might throw them through the washing machine to make sure I got all the shrink out! They're definitely more roomy in the calf but I like how they fit. I feel like they look baggier when you're looking down at your legs then they do in the mirror
-
@GardenState a lot of that bagginess will take a better form after you either hem or get the cuffs how you want them.
I do think you would benefit from a wash with agitation...looks like you have plenty of thigh room to work with. How's the waist? Do you have room to shrink it a bit and still get them buttoned? If so, id say def throw em in for wash with agitation. I like my waist to be a little on the uncomfortable side at first (I had to suck my stomach in a bit on the first wear with mine) I got a perfect fit this way. They stretch out fast. But again, that's just my preference. Many others like a looser fit right from the start.
Don't worry about washing a couple times early on. It's not going to impact your fade potential or anything.
-
@Mizmazzle I bought them true to size because I have had bad luck with sizing for stretch. Also, I hate when pants have tight top blocks or overly tight thighs. Lower rises seem to be the culprit there though. That constant pressure on my hips is annoying. I'd rather wear a belt and have some room.
-
@GardenState there ya go man! You know what works best for you!
-
@Mizmazzle Thanks for all your help though! Just pulled them out of the wash and the patch got some indigo transfer but that happens anyway. Excited for them to dry now.

Hello guys !!!
I'm new here and i would like your advice to make my choice. I really love the 888 XHS 25 oz but i love the IH 888S UHR 21/23 oz too and i can't choose between those two badboys !
This will be my first pair of Iron Heart ever. I like the raw side of the UHR but the sizing scares me a little bit and on the other hand i'm a bit concerned about the XHS because the waver is very hot where i live.
Basically, what are the biggest differences between those two ? How about the fades ?
Hope you can give me a little help for help me choose the best pair for me.
Thank you for reading me, have a great day !
-
@GardenState how’d they turn out post washing machine?
-
@Ju. What is about the sizing that scares you? I think you should be able to take the same tag size on both. The pre wash measurements on the UHR are typically slightly bigger as you get a bit more shrinkage out of them. Both feel heavy. The XHS is smoother, the UHR is hairier and it starts at a lighter hue of blue. The both give beautiful fades. Either choice will make you happy. If you really want to ball get both, they are different enough that you will enjoy the character of both fabrics.
-
@yannis Thank you very much for your advice !
I've read somewhere on the forum the UHR was harder in finding the right fit. Anyways i think i will go for the XHS ! Just to know, what is the difference between the XHS and the 888 21 oz ? Just a heavier version ?
Thank you again !
-
@Ju welcome to the forum, I'm sure you'll find plenty of advice and inspiration here. General info on both the cuts and the fabrics are available on the website:
Besides, you can add up to three items of interest using the "compare" button on the product page to check measurements.
Feel free to ask on here, or reach out to shop@ironheart.co.uk if you have questions for the Crew
-
@Tago-Mago Awesome thank you !
Will check this right now !
-
@Mizmazzle They turned out pretty great. I may have them hemmed again because they feel long although they shouldn't be. But I think that's me not always wearing them as high as they're supposed to be worn. The lower leg shrank considerably in the machine wash. Overall, I think they're pretty great they feel a bit like a more generous cut 555 to me. Perfect for winter and perfect for XHS.
-
@Ju. The difference between the 21oz and 25oz is more than just weight. The 21oz is more breathable, softer of the bat and fades in a more vintage style vs the 25oz is less breathable, difficult to deal with in the first few wears, hard to button at times, but you get rewarded with sweatpants like softness when broken in and contrast fades. Obviously the 25oz is a better winter option in colder climates.
-
@GardenState nice man! Glad you’re happy with them. I agree with the more generous 555 description.
