^ Appreciated, look forward to hearing how they turn out and how much stretch you get.
-
@JohnM After one day of wear I'm at 17.5" using the iron heart waist measuring method!
-
^ Thanks SBE2002. I think I'm in a similar boat with my size 35 (will check tonight). Great pair of jeans, nice heavy duty, soft denim and cut -- room up top but relatively trim below.
-
@JohnM Agreed! It took me a while to come around to the 888's- Coming from Levi's 511's, the 888's felt so baggy the first time I tried them on. Now that I'm used to it, they feel perfect!

ordered a pair today. thanks to @Bailey for the help with sizing

All,
I'm kind of in between sizes on these and I somehow got the impression that these are even more prone to stretch then the 21oz. What's your experince?
Br
Lengis -
Good question Lengis. I had the 21oz years ago and it seemed stretchy. I’ve had the 18oz for a week and I’d say it’s moderately stretchy, less so than the 21oz. But I’ll defer to those with more experience.
-
I also feel that is slightly less prone to stretch or not as easily as the 21oz. The 888 cut is very forgiving. Size for the waist. The thigh, knee and hem measurements increase very little in the 888 cut as size goes up. I think just focus on getting the waist right and the rest will be good to go

^ yannis, would you say 1" is about as much stretch as one can expect from the 18oz. denim?

No, you can get more, as you can with the 21oz, but it will only stretch if there is pressure exerted on the fabric.

Thanks Alex. I guess the question of whether to buy the 18 or 21 oz. jeans a little tight in the waist to begin with is a matter of preference -- some want comfort out of the gate, others prefer to let the waist give over time. While there is no 'right' answer, I'd be interested in your thoughts, as well as others more experienced with these denims.
I ask because I bought a pair of 18oz. in size 35 that are pretty trim to start. I can button them up, but gotta suck everything in first
-
I think you answered mostly your question. Definitely a matter of preference but there is a point when a pair is too tight, so no matter how much stretch you will get there will be always tight. For me if the top button is just a little difficult to do when new it's a good place to start. If I have to jump around and take multiple attempts to button it it's a no go. They will never be conformable for me.
