After morning prayer at Daitoku-ji temple in our neighborhood
This looks familiar - is it the zen temple within the larger complex? If so, Kira and I did a private meditation / sutra chanting here early one morning earlier this year with the temple master. Was a very cool experience
@Alex Yes it's a in a sub-temple of the complex of Daitoku-ji. I am pretty sure it is the same.

@Alex it's the one in Nishiki market, I think I got the recommendation from you when we were in Kyoto in March

@Chap Those are beautiful photos of such serene places.
A personal goal I have is to slow the F down and enjoy the current moment more. I'm typically mentally moving on to the next thing before I fully enjoy what's right in front of me. I feel like those temples should be enjoyed slowly, quietly, and thoroughly and would be just the test I need to help me over the hump.

You're not alone with this one...

Oh yes, absolutely that was (part of) my goal with the Japan trip. We usually skipped the crowded areas and temples went to the lesser known and sometimes just sat down for a while and enjoyed the scenery in silence...

amazing shots, Chap!
Looks like you had all of Kyoto to yourselves somehow. We tried to avoid the crowds, were only once in the center and Nishiki Market and Gion only to see the new Momotaro store. The usual tourist has three or four spots in Kyoto, it's quite easy to avoid them.
Kyoto Shijoo Bridge with Minamiza (Kabuki) Theater... and lots of people
...and one place which was quite busy too, Ginkaku-ji with the Silver Pavilion but it was worth it, even saw a guy wearing a Japanese Denim brand some of you might know...
