IHSH-411-BLK - 9oz Selvedge Indigo Check Flannel Western Shirt - Black

@Bob-Loblaw agreed, I pretty much ignored it on the live stream then have had a closer look at it on the site a few times and it’s now a must buy

@Bob-Loblaw oh man, the lighting on the IHG stream makes such a difference...

@Bob-Loblaw - thanks for the feedback. We’re referring to the colourway as “black” per the specifications from Japan. The reason we do this, and do not update colours to what we (like you, more often than not) think is more accurate, is that it leads to confusion down the line when we reference the "wrong" SKU to Japan. So I would take more stock in the photography than the suffix of the SKU.
As always, the preview images on our site offer the most accurate representation of the fabric, as we can correctly expose and colour-match images in post-production. Of course, the appearance of any fabric will change dramatically when viewed under different lighting conditions—for example, indoors under incandescent or fluorescent lighting vs outside in direct sunlight etc. Our website images are shot and edited to replicate how the fabric should look under neutral, natural daylight. And in this instance, the colours on our website are 100% accurate.
As the live stream was broadcast under studio lighting conditions (without any post-production), the lowlights will naturally appear slightly subdued to keep the rest of the colours and skin tones correctly exposed. As you can see by the comparison image, our live stream (on the left) is relatively close to the site preview (middle). While the IGH video (on the right) does emphasise the intricacies in the pattern nicely, I'd say it’s a less natural representation of the shirt, appearing lighter and far bluer than it usually would to the naked eye. I would go so far as to say that the colours in their live stream consistently appear slightly blown out from the natural light their video was shot in, and I have included a couple more comparisons below to highlight this point.
As you said, though, it’s a beautiful weave. Due to the indigo dye, we are expecting these shirts to lighten in appearance with wear and washing. I hope that helps clear up any confusion!

…another thing to note, that is unless you are running colour correction software for your viewing device (phone, tablet, monitor), that the colours on your end may also look distorted in comparison to the pictures from IH and to the product in hand.
The fact that IHUK has done so much work trying to give us the best product available (pictures and video) is a testament to their professionalism.

Will definitely be picking this one up, thanks for all the content @SamD

Sam’s YT video got the better of me … interest registered.

@SamD getting really good at these man

@flannel-slut Cheers! It really helps to have the new setup - we'll hopefully be shooting some SS25 product focus vids with @AdamC soon, so I'll make sure to get some nice detailed shots of the fabrics then.

The quality of your videos has improved greatly. I know it takes effort, but the results speak for themselves. Keep up the excellent work team!

I love the colors on these but I have a question. Are the vertical stripes placed differently on each individual piece (as opposed to by size)? For example, the sample shirt in the photo looks to be a size Large and there is a noticeable gap between vertical stripes down the middle. Is this totally random and a piece-by-piece kind of thing? The vertical stripes really pop out.
To compare, the sample shirt (same size L) for the work shirt version is more balanced, which makes me think it's a piece-by-piece thing.
Thanks -
Ok, thanks. Maybe I'll get some in at the Self Edge store near me so I can check it out first.
