The Strike Gold

@JunkPants well you can wear more than one pair at a time - probably not a good idea with this weight though!
-
@Jeansman Wow, nice that you got both! This denim is pretty awesome though.
Haha, I wouldn't last long in two of these

Sorry @Alex . At the party I was super-restrained despite trying on and loving the slubs in 634 cut and another cut which I really liked. But I knew if I tried a new cut I would end up getting carried away and wanting that cut in the other weights as well. So I returned home empty-handed and got lots of brownie points for being able to answer No to my wife's question whether I had bought any more jeans.
Advance a month, and I got beguiled by The Strike Gold's 24.8 Extra Hard series. May be I saw the competition pair in the Indigo Invitational? I wanted the non-washed version. I liked the big pockets on the SG9903s and the taper on the SG9904s. I was able to score 1 pair of non-washed SG9903s and 2 pairs on non-washed SG9904s so evened it up with a non-washed pair of SG9903s. However, the non-washed are also awesome.
To cut it short I ended up with 1 extra pair of one-washed 9903s and an extra pair of one-washed 9904s which are more suitable for smarter occasions. See pic
But I needed something in reserve so I got a further non-washed pair of SG9903s and SG9904s. See pic
In total the 8 pairs of extra hard should last me a while!
However, all is not lost as I am still really enjoying my UHRs and am approaching 3 months without a wash or soak.

The Strike Gold is a brand I always wanted to wear into the ground. However, I tried two different cuts three times and the rise never enough. Always sits too low and crowds the boys.

They are great jeans but the polar opposite of Iron Heart when it comes to durability. They are made to degrade. I love wabi sabi but it is helpful to have more robust construction so that you can truly see what the denim can do before the things fall apart beyond repair.
Their LHT is one of my favorites though. I have a second, fairly fresh pair of those to finish off one day.

Maybe this is old news, but Klaxon posted on insta about a blog they have, and I was able to see Strike Gold sweats at significantly reduced prices to what you’d get from a retailer outside Japan. Picked up a green hoodie for about half the asking price at Self Edge (though I do see that they are on sale there currently). $20 shipping.

@pechelman I'm a Large usually in IH and my last SG hoodie I went XL (I think / hope because that's what I did this time). I never washed it because it was borderline and they are not pre shrunk. So I'd size up at least once.
-
@Jeansman I wondered why these are never in stock, it's cos you bought them all haha
-
@pechelman
OK so in hindsight I should have sized up twice. It's fine now but this thing gets wet and it becomes my wife's. It really is a soft and warm fleece. IH wins overall for me because the pockets and details like a larger hood and a leather pull on the zipper but for the price no regrets on this one. -
That looks really great to me @mclaincausey
I thought the ones they sold were already washed? Ultimately I decided against getting what I was eyeing bc it just wasn't quite right for me. (In my case I was looking at the cardigan) -
@pechelman no their fleece are unwashed and shrink significantly
-
@pechelman oh maybe they changed. I'd love that. Sizing this fleece is notoriously difficult otherwise.

Here are some care instructions for TSG loopwheel, probably applicable to all loopwheel.

One interesting thing they mentioned is that they alternate s and z weaves to reduce skew. Reminiscent of broken twill. Another interesting thing is that they use vintage Union Specials on the seams. I've always admired how tight, small, and flat the seams are so that was interesting.
