IH-634S-B - 21oz Selvedge Denim Straight Cut Jeans - Overdyed Indigo
-
Thanks for clarifying. Thought so, too, but still it is sometimes hard to believe, as they fade much more grey than blue. Like I would expect from the SBG. But, on the other hand, that makes sense, as the indigo might be dyed black and the inner white fibre comes through.

Received my 634S-B last week. I am obsessed with the buttons.
-
why with the buttons?
-
I love the tarnish on them. These also feel much less stiff then when I got my 634S.

Has anybody seen a pair of these with extensive fading other than Max Powers' pair?
The black dye seems to "stick" to the sanforized denim better than the raw so as they fade, they don't expose as much blue but rather grey/white from the core warp/weft. I could be very wrong but has anyone else noticed any difference between any of the overdyed sanforized vs. raw denim?
There is also the chance that I am completely over analyzing this…
-
i don't want to start anything, but calling any overdyed garment "raw" is just off.
please humor me & follow my reasoning.
when the denim is given the dye bath its being soaked & heated & that "raw" is no more. that's why all the shrinkage is out & you just purchase, hem to appropriate length, & wear. now i think you might be noticing differences in different denims & the way they react to the overdye process . . . but i'm not touching that since i really haven't worn overdyed enough to comment on its properties.
of course that could just be an oversimplification of the entire ordeal. . .
*raw OD you can look at the OD666s or the ODSEXIH collabs

you are correct sir. I should have said "unsanforized" rather than raw. AND, i should have clarified; although the denim has been overdyed, its not being sanforized will still leave the denim a little rougher than the sanforized 21oz standard IH denim.
My question is really about how the dye takes to and wears off of the rougher, unsanforized denim vs. the sanforized denim of the 634s-B. The reason I bring this up is because I have been looking at the jeans you mentioned (Beatle's 07BK's and Finns 666OD in particular) and there seems to be a lot more blue coming through rather than on Max Powers amazing 634s-B or even my own pair.
It could be the fact that Finn and Beats are great photographers and capture something in their pictures that nobody else has or the denim takes and "releases" the dye differently due to the process of making the denim. I hope with Mondays help, my question has become clearer…

have a feeling this is going to be a complicated answer
-
i think we are safe from that, hahahahahahahaha, actually let's see who else chimes in

What I experienced on my pair (thanks for the kind words, btw) was, that they first fade to a light blue hue, but once that's gone they turn to a greyish colour. Of course, in reality and sunlight they appear still blue in some places. And I also thought, that they would take forever to fade, but in fact, it was pretty fast. Dunno why, but you may have noticed, that their fit is rather tight on me which may help fades.
I'll try to take some good evo pics later, ok?

Alright, here we go:634 S-B, 8 months in, no wash, patch oiled twice. Traintracks coming. I love them, just wish I would have taken a 33 waist.
-
That was after two months; like I said, more blue than nowadays.
You can also see the stitching loosing the overdye.
-
insane!
