IRON CAST by Iron Heart International

Hi Giles, a quick question. How on earth did you end up in a little place like Gosport. I heard on the podcast that you are from the Midlands. And then for years lived all over the world. So of all the places you could have chosen, how did it end up to be Gosport? Not that I have got anything against the place, I lived there for years!

Alex was in boarding school in Winchester and was only allowed out on Sundays. We wanted to minimize travel time to pick him up and take him back. In reality, Gosport was further away than we planned, but when we saw the house, beautiful but derelict, we fell in love. And I really need to live by water….

Thanks Giles, that explains it. I used to take walks down on the Solent almost every day when I was living in Alverstoke. Love being by the water, too.
-
@Giles – How often do you think episodes will be published?
-
Wonderful. Very much looking forward to it.

Excellent, that’s my walk home from work sorted.
-
Nice I have a long drive tomorrow so I can listen to it. Thanks.

Really enjoyed it. At one point Alex mentioned the idea of driving around in an RV as a sort of IH pop up store. I’ve actually seen a few mobile boutiques at craft fairs and such, not that your looking to sell stuff, but it is being done. Kind of like the clothing/craft version of a food truck.

Listening rn! Stoked on this guys.
-
Will be giving this a listen while at work.

Wowow just finished.
All the new denim coming out is exciting! 15oz, 17oz, and the infamous 21/23?!STOKED AF FOR THAT UHR

I've just really been enjoying the opportunity to get to "know" the crew behind the brand. I feel like I can relate to Alex in the way he moved from different business opportunities. He doesn't seem to have mental constrains on what he can do or be, but at the same time hasn't let that result in dilettantism.
-
Great listen @Alex , loved all the talk about trade fairs and the Iron Heart philosophy of only working with people you like. Just like everyone else I also did a little sex wee at the mention of the return of UHR denim, my personal favourite after spending 4 continuous years wearing nothing but.

Thanks for another enjoyable episode. Really interesting to hear about the possible obsolescence of the factory labourers. Made me wonder about the long term potentiality of vertical integration? IHUK Made in UK? Japan brought the manufacturing there in the 20th century, who's to say it couldn't happen here in 'Global Britain'? If anyone could do it, surely it's Iron Heart?
