Giles and Paula's Great Retirement Adventure

Those are sick!
You could definitely forestall a disagreement twirling that thing on that Dyneema too.
-
have a good time. over.
In any other news, Paula and I passed our VHF radio courses yesterday, and we are off to Menorca for a few days on Tuesday to
piss the boatyard off by being overly anal about everythingcheck on progress of SAKURA -
It looks beautiful @Giles. And I bet the food is great too. It's getting cold and rainy again here in the UK, I'm very jealous of the blue skies and sunshine.
-
Looks bloody wonderful.
Roll on spring here in the uk.

It is. We have already talked to Sasga about mooring her here through the winter and having them haul her out and do maintenance if we need.
The single biggest issue is that now we are not part of the EU, thanks a lot fucking Brexit, we are not allowed to be in The EEC (well, actually the Schengen area to be precise) for more than 90 days out of a rolling 180 (and that is so hard to keep a track of, numerous apps have sprung up), so the boat can be here, but we may not

Soooooooooo, we went to the progress made on SAKURA. It's really great to see the build process and document it, it will serve us so well in later years when we need to know where something that is hidden from view is…
Engines are in:
And the generator:
And lots of other techy stuff…
Heating/cooling:
Deck etc, not yet joined to the hull, but in hull work is going apace:
One hell of a windlass:
And, there is the deck and saloon:
The electrician is going to have a heck of a lot of joining up to do:
"Mast" and radar:
Me, getting nerdy with shore power connector specs….

Looks really lovely.
When its time to collect will it be in the water or is there a breaking of the bottle on the side type launch?

I suspect it will be in the water, but I bet @Madame Buttonfly and I will get trashed on whatever people waste breaking bottles…..Maybe even on or close to SAKURA....

We popped into Sasga to tie up a few loose ends this morning. I grabbed a couple of images of the stockroom for @goosehd , because I know he understands that this sort of tidiness and organisation spills over into every aspect of the build….
And a photo of a previous generation Sasga we saw last night, loved her reflection…

Really impressive that it's that organized and speaks volumes about the pride that goes into working there. In my mind that correlates to the overall build quality of the boat and the fact the storeroom (which I assume most customers don't/can't access) is that neat means they haven't cleaned up just for your visit.
I really think you're going to get a top level build and are dealing with a great outfit.
