Queen Mary 2
-
I guess you can maybe classify this as a bucket list item. But a while ago, probably a bit over a year ago we booked the crossing on the Queen Mary 2. I'm looking forward to it. Not particularly fond of the evening dress code requirements but will comply. We are crossing with some good friends that live in Kew, who are flying over, staying in NYC, and then doing the crossing with us.
We arrive in NYC early, Saturday, then sail out Sunday. I will probably post most pics after we return on 30 May. We will stay a couple of days in beautiful Gosport, with more good friends. Then head to London prior to flying home. The last detail is passing a covid test prior to sailing.

Sounds cool. I've always been curious about this as someone who needs to travel between UK and USA so am looking forward to hearing about it.

Thanks all. I'm sure there will be stories from this trip. The last detail was achieved today, we tested negative on the mandatory Covid teat. I guess its anchors away.

Looking forward to hearing all about your first night on board!

ship looks amazing.Fixed it
The QM2 is a big girl but not when compared to RC’s Oasis class or some of the MSC ships which are almost 100 GT heavier. However, I saw the Epic (29th largest in the world compared to QM at 34th) in port while in Jamaica was thought it was a high rise at first. QM isnt too far behind.
I dont think anything can compare to it quality-wise. The crew ratio from what I have read is one staff for every two passengers which is amazing. I cant wait to see the pics from this voyage. -
1250 staff
Max 2600 passengers….Think an OD denim tux would be enough for dinner?
I promise I’ll even wear shoes and not Birkenstocks [emoji3]

The cruise was amazing. I wasn't sure at first how I would like it. At the end, I will do it again. There were 2 formal nights, then 5 nights which I wasn't aware of I could wear jeans and a collared shirt. Oh well next time.

The ship was all Art Deco. A wide assortment of ages, mostly my age and above.

I would like to extend a special thank you to @Giles and @Madame Buttonfly for picking us up in Southampton, and Giles for helping Mr upload these photos. I will post more continuation of the trip photos when I get home 30 May.
