IH-6634-BRN - 14oz Heavy Corduroy Straight Cut Pants - Brown

I wish I had taken pre measurements, but it was kind of a spur of the moment decision. I have worn these like 10 or so times and was surprised as how quickly they had stretched, especially in the waist (not surprised given that is the main pressure area).
I was starting to wonder if I should have gone with a 35 (I am typically a 34 in denim), but after reviewing the measurements again, the 35 is not that much different than a 36 aside from waist and a 34 would have been too tight for sure, so the 36 is where it’s at for me especially in the hem (I’m one of those weirdos who likes a wider hem to sit over my boots and I’m not a cuffer).
So I just thought, feck it, let’s hot wash and throw in the dryer and we what we can get.
The waist definitely snugged back up and the butt/crotch area seem to have also snugged up a bit (what I was hoping for). Unfortunately the leather patch has also shrunk, but again I knew that would happen and given I’m not selling these and the patch is always under a belt, I decided it was reasonable casualty to get a better fit.
I did notice that drying brought back some of the original “heftiness “ of the material as it had begun to soften with wear. I may continue to machine dry these in the future but we’ll see what happens with continued wear going forward.
I ended up buying two pairs of these as I know we won’t see this material again and I have always been a corduroy guy so I can compare the machine dried pair with the pair in storage I have not yet worn.
I know machine drying is not for everyone and I’m not sure I’d do it with any of my IH denim given the damage a machine can do to the denim, but I think for this material and my situation it was the right choice.
I’ll post here again with some comparison measurements and fit pics of both when I get a chance

I got these and the beige as the final indulgence prior to a spending freeze - and no buyer's remorse here, simply the nicest corduroy I've handled. I had them in mind as potentially good for work, but the very relaxed fit (on me anyway) and luxe fabric rules that out I think. Instead they're the ultimate weekend loungers, the thinking man's sweatpants. Softening up beautifully, if they're as hard wearing as people say it's really the ultimate trouser fabric. Hopefully one of the Japanese workshops step up with an alternative, a charcoal pair in 666 would be another must have.

golden brown, texture like sun....
-
@prpx that’s a great combo, and you get extra brownie points for The Stranglers reference!
-
@IrishHeart yo!!! I somehow JUST discovered The Stranglers this very weekend. I found a cool band pin I wanted to buy and didn’t recognize the name so decided to give them a listen. I literally listened to like 7 of their albums over the weekend!! Freaking love them now!!
-
@Mizmazzle this makes me glad but at the same time- never heard of Stranglers means Im a geezer
-
@steelworker you and me both…
-
@steelworker haha. I’m no spring chicken myself. To be clear, I’d heard their name before but never their music. I’m an old school punk fan through and through. I was searching for punk band pins for my new lefty. Stumbled across a cool Raven one for the Stranglers and decided I should give the band a listen cause I really liked the pin. Instant love!! Another piece filled in in the history of punk rock. Looks like they may have recently had their farewell tour too. May never get the chance to see them live.
-
@Mizmazzle really glad that you checked them out and liked them. I first saw The Stranglers in Birmingham in 1977 and they were brilliant. I have seen them several times since.
We had a few great punk venues and I used to go and watch bands like like The Clash, The Damned, Boomtown Rats, Blondie etc. Great days. -
@Mizmazzle i had to dig out my Raven album for you!
-
@IrishHeart sick dude!! Im about to pick up a few of their records to add to my collection stat!! Hard to pick a fav at this point, but Black and White is a solid contender. I did buy that Raven pin too! Love the artwork on that cover…
And to keep it about these cords…I should break mine out more. Probably once that first Stranglers record gets spun I should wear my beige pair!!
-
@Mizmazzle top man! Try Rattus Norvegicus if you haven’t already.
Now the weather is getting cooler, you should be finding plenty of opportunities to wear the cords. A big regret of mine that I didn’t buy a pair when I had the chance. -
Is there any intention to restock these? A size 38 needs to be on my body.

X-Post
@motojobobo Looking good!
Where had they been hidden the last two years? -
@Aetas they were stacked in Gosport! Several failed/postponed trips kept prolonging the stacked period (along with several other items). Recently had a trip to the US and received them there.
I never have stuff sent directly to Bolivia as I can count with at least some getting lost, plus, extortionate bribes when they arrive safely. I’m used to it by now. In fact, if IH UK didn’t offer the stacking option, I’d only be a very infrequent customer. After 11 years as an IH fan I’ll take a guess at saying I probably proudly own circa 100 IH items! Should get around and count them one of these days. -
@motojobobo that definitely sounds like a challenge in securing IH package delivery. 100 items is a serious collection!! Congrats on that. So if you don’t have them delivered, and you stack most of your purchases…how do you go about getting them in hand? Fly to Gosport for pickup???
