IH-555S-UHR - 21/23oz Ultra Heavy Raw Selvedge Denim Super Slim Cut Jeans

@Visceral The shrink that you get out of the UHR's will stretch back out in the waist…the length will not (nor will the thighs/calves - unless they are under constant tension).
How does the rest of the jean fit? Loose, Tight, Perfect?
I'd say there's a good bit of room everywhere in the top block (most of all the waist) but the legs fit well from the thigh down definitely enough room for some shrink but not too much that its baggy.
I think you should seriously consider going down a size. After I shrank my 888uhr it was a real motherfucker to get them buttoned up but after a not very long break in period they are quite comfortable because they stretched out to a little beyond where I started per-soak.

I need a little size advice, which I know isn't the easiest…
So my sizing is between the 36-38 pairs. I have a pair of 555-sbg and 555-od both size 38 and the waist measurements were both 38 when brand new. I have room in the waist on both pairs to be comfortable after I've worn each for awhile now. The size 38 UHR lists 39.4 waist which after shrink would be good, but if it stretches back out a lot it'll definitely be on the larger side, while the 36 is listed at 37.6... I am more worried about those shrinking in the waist and being too tight or even unwearable after a soak, but not sure if the 38 would likely be too big. I am conflicted. My OD pair is a bit on the loose side in the waist even after washing and drying, so I am leaning towards those because I wear a belt anyway, but I need some outside perspective.

You could always send an email to the shop. They are excellent in regards to fit and sizing: shop@ironheart.co.uk

@goosehd yeah I will have to reach out. My gut tells me 38 is the move, but I am still conflicted.

Quick update. Got the 32's and fit in the top block is much better. The legs are quite skinny but should lead to some killer fades once broken in. Thanks all for the help.
Nice that you have found the correct size that works for you! If you have the time upload some pics! Mine will come in tomorrow, soak/wash and rock!

Look what came in today UHR is a beast.. wow! It’s been long since i had a XHS.. sized in a 34 and had a fist of room in the waist, now they are soaking and then in the washing machine.. hopefully they are dry tomorrow!
-
Soaked the beast for 1 hour in the warmest water i could tap and then washed it without a spin on 30 degrees celcius. Still amazed by this piece! Length shrunk about 2 inch, the waist doesn’t shrunk that much, overall a better fit post-soak

@Heavy_blue great fit

Thanks mate! I’m really digging these

I write this at work, while eagerly waiting to leave to get home to my fresh delivery of these bad boys… My question is, is it necessary to soak AND wash, or can I get by with just a soak? My washer is a wildcard so I am a bit paranoid about putting them in the machine and need some advice.
-
The facts of the matter are that soaking lubricates the cotton threads in such a way that they puff up and the constructional stitching integrates better.
The machine wash creates the agitation needed to contract the fibres making the denim 23oz per square yard. This also means shrinkage.
Following instructions will get the shrinkage out, strengthen the fabric and the stitching. Not followimg them may mean stitching popping out, early tears appearing at creased points, or nasty shrink related surprises at a later date.

Just wash straight from the soak on the lowest temp, with the least spin possible.
-
Thanks guys. And on the wash, detergent or none?

No need. It’s the agitation you’re after primarily.

You guys are the best

quick update:
theyve been soaked, washed, dried and on my legs. After about 10 minutes and a bruised thumb I got them buttoned and they are absolutely incredible. Glad I went with the 555 over the 888 in these, and I think for the first time in a long time, I am going to go with a cuff instead of a hem.

Let's see some fit pics! I always prefer a cuff, especially with heavyweights.
