@scarfmace man that’s a special pair and not just because of the incredible fades. Very cool
-
@scarfmace I only had a chance to chat with Mike a couple times. But knowing how generous he was and how dedicated to this craft he lived…I’m willing to guess he’d be super stoked on this.

Thanks for the comments guys, I didn't know Mike outside the forum, but to me, he kind of symbolized the spirit of this forum.
We are all just mortal people from all walks of life with different backgrounds, on different paths in life, Coming together to share a common passion in denim, trying to spread some joy and friendship. -
@TinMan Did you do a warm soak before your first wear?
-
@scarfmace yes I did, 33c. Did you do more than one soak initially? Thought about doing one more just to make sure.
-
I did a hot soak (like 60°)before my first wear to try and get all the shrink out. otherwise you'll get that shrink later on and risk the creases needing to resettle.
I also never machine washed my pair because I have a mortal hatred for lightning fades. Only soaks (always do a hot one with soap and then a second one with lukewarm water to get the pair nice and clean without soap residue. Then hang dry till bone dry

I have been wondering if this will be enough to shrink the fades in order to avoid fade shifting. I plan to likely purchase a new pair of UHR at the party and want to be sure about this. Will multiple hot soaks shrink the denim enough? @Alex @AdamJ

Shrinkage is down to heat in water and agitation, so it depends what you do to them when soaking them, I suppose
Which is why the washing machine is key, as it moves the denim around a lot. Soaking the jeans beforehand helps prevent white streaks though, correct?
-
@scarfmace, I like your method. decided on one more soak.
