IH-888S-UHR - 21/23oz Ultra Heavy Raw Selvedge Denim High Rise Tapered Cut Jeans

Fwiw, don't discount the 666 uhr till you check out the measurements. These seem to be cut a little more generously in the top block and thigh than their 21oz counterparts for the same tag. Mine didn't shrink at much as I was expecting either and very quickly stretched back in the waist so they're very comfy.

Feel like I probably could have sized down.
I had similar experience with the 555UHR. Went with my normal tag size which had posted dimensions a little larger than my typical. The tag size down had posted dimensions that were perfect without the shrinkage. I went with the slightly larger dimensions thinking the shrinkage would pull it in, but after a few days of wear they are now stretched back out a little bigger than I prefer. If I get another pair, I’m going to purchase as I normally do with the dimensions I want as if no shrinkage. Then after soaking and washing, I’ll stuff myself in them like a sausage and wear them around the house till they stretch back out. I should have known better since I had experienced the same thing about five years ago with the 3Sixteen Kibatas. I’ve learned my lesson with raw - won’t happen again for me. BTW - they don’t look bad (as mine don’t either) but I know it’s a matter of personal preference and how you like them to look and feel more so than what others may notice.

Interesting, I didn't even think to check out the 666 UHR after my experience with the 666 XHS. The measurements actually look pretty generous. I put in an order for 634 UHR, but I will chat with the IHUK crew tomorrow and see what they have in the 666. Lots of those still in stock.

This is where I am at as well. If they are comfortable after a hot soak and hot wash, then (for me) they are probably too big.

I've been wearing these for two weeks now and I'm really liking them. I already have a pair of 888XHS so I was hesitant to buy these but my curiosity got the best of me so I went ahead and pulled the trigger. I may end up liking these more than XHS… but we'll see. It looks like the fades are gonna come fast, I even got some marks from the washing machine after the initial soak.
Fit: My advice is order true to size and trust that you'll stretch them back out post shrinkage.

Nice

UHR on the rack haha

“The vest show” got all the attention, so your acquisition of the UHRs went completely unnoticed (by me at least).
Guess we’re jeans buddies now, @Matt
My photo competition prize was well spent!
Haraki signing it was the icing on the cake.@don_pipone and I had a lot of fun trying to make them stand on their own at our Airbnb.. Guess Fallen Acorn slowed down the process a bit, it took as a long time….
Soon as they stood Pipo posed next to them with his > 400 wear days 777 UHR. Can’t wrap my head around the fading potential…Soaked them yesterday and will start to wear them as soon as the temperatures drop < 20deg.
What a beast this is, let’s tame it! -
Yeah, I bought the one thing I couldn’t actually wear at the party so I kind of forgot about them. The denim is great. sold my size 34 5th Anny UHRs so I was in need of a new pair in my preferred cut and size. I’ll be trying them on shortly, the New Mexico sun makes drying time pretty efficient.

Best decision ever @weftyarn
I am so looking forward how your pair will evolve over time. They will look amazing, that's for sure.Btw. it indeed took way too long to prepare the photo. I'm still torn if this is one of those stories I will tell to my sons one day: "…and then, your uncle Emil and I made a pair of jeans standing up."
@Matt superb fit! As @swiss-jeansfreak would say: "Can't wait to see them after 500 wear days."
-
Great shots @weftyarn and @don_pipone did a great job makeing them stand by their own.
And yeah looking forward to see them 500 wear days later and beyond. -
I have saw this done before but I just received my pair today and wanted to try it out. And yes they will stand on there own .

Never fails to impress! I’m slightly embarrassed to say that despite 3 pairs of UHR and 2 pairs of XHS over the last 10 years, I have never managed this trick.

These and the 19Ls are so good. Had to do everything in my power not to buy either.
-
Yeah the 23oz is really stiff before it is soaked. Turning them inside out was a chore and so was fastening the buttons even after soak. Overall they have softened up quite a bit after a hot soak and wash. I can see why there has been so much hype for this fabric.

Question, IH Army - I am currently at a crossroads between a size 29 and a 30 in the UHR. I have both a pair of 888S-21oz and the 888-SBG-21oz. Measurements below:
IH-888S-21
TAG SIZE 30
W - 15.4
FR - 11.2
BR - 15.75
TH - 12.25
KN - 8.45
H - 7.25IH-SBG-21
TAG SIZE 31
W - 15.4
FR - 11.4
BR - 16
TH - 12.2
KN - 8.3
H - 7.5IH-888-UHR
TAG SIZE 29
W - 14.75
FR - 11.3
BR - 15.7
TH - 12.1
KN - 8.4
H - 7.6IH-888-UHR
TAG SIZE 30
W - 15.45
FR - 11.5
BR - 16
TH - 12.3
KN - 8.6
H - 7.9Comparing the measurements to the UHR's, a size 30 looks pretty solid for me to shrink and then stretch back out but the hem and knee seem rather large comparative to my other pairs. For the 29, I risk them being a little tight after the initial soak/agitation stage but this would mean I would need to stretch them back to around their original measurements (maybe even past them in the waist). For veterans with the UHR, what would you guys recommend? I am leaning towards a 30 and shrinking the absolute hell out of them (I can make my bath/washer water as hot as I need) but just wanted a second opinion as others have said they stretch like CRAZY if put under pressure. Thanks in advance!
-
In my experience, they should fit the way you want them to fit before you soak. They do stretch back out especially in the areas that get a lot of tension, like the waist — the other areas not so much. But overall they don’t shrink that much (or at least mine didn’t with two pretty scalding hot soaks). Mine shrank a bit, quickly stretched back out to original spec in the waist, and haven’t stretched much past that, if any.
If they were to be a bit on the snug side pre-soak, you might get even more stretch just because of the increased tension, but I’ll let someone else verify that hunch.

I would say the W30. Judging by the pairs you own I think you would struggle with the waist on the W29.
Generally, UHR iterations are a little wider in the leg due to the nature the denim, but the leg measurmemts you’re concerned about will shrink, but won’t stretch much.
-
I’d definitely agree with that, based on the 30’s consistency with your other pairs.
