USA Mega Trip - July & August 2022

…it's amazing where a simple, please or thank you will get you in life!! Simple wish is that everyone would just for 1 minute just think about someone else...
...and if you ever think that you are better than someone else, STOP...and check your attitude.
I'm sorry for derailing the thread and am off the soapbox now.

…sounds like 'Chivalry' is not dead amongst my IH brothers!
...@mclaincausey 'Wrapped around the axel'. I'm using that one!
-
I frequently get ignored when holding a door but I don’t think I’ve gotten any dirty looks. It’s just something I’ve always done so I really don’t think about it
I do get some heat if I say excuse me or pardon me like I’m being passive aggressive when I’m really just trying to excuse myself.

Made it to the next stop of the trip…
Andros, Bahamas - Kira was born and raised here to two American parents that had both moved here separately for work, her mother in the fashion industry, her father a marine biologist. They met down here, and eventually built the house which Kira & I are staying in at the moment. They bought the plot of land way back when for $5,000... How times have changed!
Pics are a bit shitty because I just got back from a run and my hands were sweaty and we are also experiencing some haze which some think could be a saharan sand cloud.
The driveway, and our lovely Nissan Cube (US imported vehicles are very expensive, and the Bahamas drives on the left, so Japan wins)
Front garden
Back garden
And the little pathway to our next door neighbour and great friend, Mike, who taught me to dive when I was about 13. He left the hotel that @Giles @Madame Buttonfly and I used to holiday at, and that I interned at for a few summers as a Divemaster and build a villa rental on the plot next to ours. Luckily we get full use of it when he has no guests. Unluckily (for us) he is currently occupied

Loving this thread @Alex and, as already said, some great photography by Kira.
Give our love to Andros and have an amazing time

the cube is a nifty little lovely car ️

Wow looks amazing

@Alex there's nothing like waking up to the breeze coming in and the sounds of birds and waves. That must be next level relaxing. If you ARE working, this is the spot you could be designing the Iron Heart Linen easy pants.

Nice idea @jordanscollected !
So this week I have taken off as paid leave, though I obviously can't completely switch off as you can imagine..
That said, I have my hands full with other work… Today I fit a new TV - the last one got blown out by a lightning strike - and did some repairs on the aircon unit I fitted last time I was down here. It wasn't holding pressure, so we had to track down a leak.
-
Long story short, I either fucked up the flare on the copper pipe last time, or when I joined it to the compressor it wasn't sitting quite right, either way you can kind of see where it sat wrong
Vacuum pumped out the system to check it could hold pressure, rather than waste refrigerator gas on the troubleshoot…
-
Loaded up with 410A after a successful vacuum test, and called in the big guns (Mike) to make sure I hadn't fucked up twice.
Now to wait overnight and make sure that it's solid, but at least we have AC in our bedroom tonight, unlike last night!
Happily the leak was not in the joined pipes under this deck, so I didn't need to get back under it to redo anything there. Nice cool place for snakes and tarantulas to hide from the summer sun

Those stiffener inserts can get tricky. Even with the compression nuts supplied.
-
not when it has 250,000 miles on the clock it's not hahahaha
well, someone's gotta put the miles on it to make sure it's reliable. heck, it's Japanese. if it hasn't got 500,000 miles on the clock, you're barely scratching the surface… ahaha

dare you to approach airport security wearing that

dare you to approach airport security wearing that
I can't say why exactly but I feel like the jeans tucked into socks into Birks especially create a person of interest.
