Insects

This little git has been buzzing around the house for days, unable to find and make use of one of the many open windows to escape, and generally being a PITA whenever we were cooking. The dog just discovered his corpse under the coffee table.
Kinda beautiful their iridescent colouring when you can get a good look.

Somebody thinks wings aren’t tasty!
Me guess would be a racoon or feral cat.

Arachnid, I know. Sue me.
The insect is probably what’s getting eaten.

in the last nights we've had hornets out here by my cottage. they were busy with other insects but quite peaceful to us, as long as you did not inadvertently grab anything they are sitting on. my love was stung by one into her hand. it did hurt but less than from a wasp she said. had to cool it for the evening and it felt itchy for another day. this fellow here like our candle, fortunately always kept distance to the flame.

@Matt why stop at wasps? Get rid of 'em all ,I say

I must've had something that 'smelled wrong to a wasp' on me while sat in a hot tub last year. I got stung three or four times on the side of my neck within about 20 minutes. I looked like I had some sort of tumour for a few days.
I'd still rather get rid of the mosquitos though. Probably the most damaging insect to humans globally. Plus I'm allergic to them - a bite on my foot, say, will mean I can't wear shoes for a week - and have the gene variant that makes me smell particularly attractive to them. AFAIK from when I last looked it up, there isn't anything in the ecosystem that depends on mosquitos for its survival. Those bastards can do one.
