I store my boat offsite for the winter and always get a little nervous firing it up for the first time of the year.
Ears on it fired up in one turn of the key.
Gassed up and tires inflated. Bass opener is 2 weeks Saturday. So ready to get the lines wet. -
The UK government has issued a list of countries that we can visit and not have to quarantine upon our return. In the main, the countries on the list won't let us in (Australia, New Zealand…) or we can't get to (Ascension Island), or can't really be bothered visiting (The Falkland Islands), so the only one that is actually accessible and sensible is Portugal.
So yesterday we booked a small villa on the Algarve coast, where the Bass fishing (oh, and the walking Paula) is amazing.
Will be there in 4 weeks.
Some of the best fishing spots are extremely gnarly, so I have just put titanium carbide tipped studs into my wading boots.

Finally got the boat and the lines wet.
Lost 2 expensive lures to northern and had the largest bass spot the hook.Man I missed fishing.
My nephew Saalim will be costarring in most of my fishing adventures. He can catch 1 fish in 6 hours and grin from ear to ear the entire time. The perfect fishing partner.

been going out for Weakfish lately. they’ve been missing from our fishery for a long time. catching one used to be like seeing a unicorn. but they were back in numbers this year. here one of the many “unicorns” i caught. we were fishing g what is refered as a tombolo. it’s where waves meet after an island splits them. it leaves a bar that has deep water on both sides. we stand on the bar in waist deep moving water and fish either side or wherever the hell the wind allows.

i let this fellow go but he was about 25 inches long. i have never eaten them as this was my first encounter with them. but a friend kept one and he said it was fantastic. it’s in the grunt family of fish and grunt are delicious!
