Forum Prefixes
-
I would like to announce the beginning of a new feature here on the Iron Heart Forum, Prefixes. Prefixes are a way to search and sort by a individual item or category. Below you can see a screen shot of where the prefixes are located (Directly above the "Subject" field). At this point we are only in the features infancy, so please bare with me as I work out the kinks and add to the Prefixes. I would have added every IH item ever, but figured we could start with bottoms, FS, FT, and WTB. Unfortunately, it is not possible to select multiple Prefixes (I know it is a pain, but just the way it is for now). Also, please post any suggestions and or issue that you may think of/ come upon along the way. Oh and "Rome wasn't built in a day" so please be patient. I hope that this new feature is enjoyable and useful to you all. Thanks for tuning in!

You will also notice that when you enter any of the "Marketplace" sub forums that at the top of the screen is a list of tags. Just click on one to search for a specific item in the given sub forum. Nothing will pop up until people start using the tags.

on the phone ATM but I think this is a great great feature…making life a bit easier!
but what about a "go to page ..." button/box?
if I'm searching through waywt-thread and want to go to page 600 (800total) I always have to jump back and/or click the "..." to jump more pages at a time.
so maybe if you know what page you want to look up on, it would be way easier to hit the "go to page ..." button/box, enter the number of the page and bam, there you go...no more hustle needed! -
Thanks Lando. Keen to see how this works. G
Of course. So am I…

As for the Pages, that all depends on the particular setting you choose for how you view your profile. I have everything set in mine to the max posts per page etc. One cannot say "It is on page 48 of such and such thread" as it would be different for everyone. I hope I am making sense/ understanding what you are saying…

Finn, I'm on my phone now, so I'm not sure exactly where it is, but if you check the web address at the top of your browser, there is a portion of the code that specifies what page you're on. Something like "page=600", I think. If you change that number to the page you want to jump to and hit enter- boom, you're there. Doesn't help for browsing on tapatalk, though.

I don't think it does:
http://www.ironheart.co.uk/forum/index.php?topic=3171.msg162317#msg162317
In this case 3171 refers to the topic number. 162317 refers to the post number

Wrong again, dammit. Maybe I was thinking of SuFu. Thanks for fact checking me, Giles.

If you have a FS, FT, FS/FT, WTB in any of your thread titles, you can go ahead and remove them. Just add the desired Prefix and it will show up in front of your thread title.
-
It would be great if people could start adding this feature to their respective threads so that we might be able to use it. I have added a RC Prefix for the Roll Call section. Feel free to modify your original post select RC, and then remove "Roll Call" from your titles. Please also do this with any and all WTB, FS, or FT threads!

Update: The bugs (Multiple Prefixes Selected and Search Functionality/ Refining) in the Prefix code are being worked on. I will let you know as soon as there is a update from the programmers. Not saying it will happen, but we are working on it.
-
Update: Please note a few recent changes. Now when starting a FS, FT, WTB, or RC thread, you will have to choose one of the Prefixes or you will not be allowed to continue. Also, I have gone through each Sub Forum (FT, FT, WTB, RC) and have modified each and every single thread to contain one of the proper prefixes. Now, when you search using a particular prefix, all of the threads will show up.
Side Note: A cool feature of the Prefix tool is that once a item is locked and moved to "Sold", it no longer shows up in the search function. Hope you all take advantage of this feature and enjoy it. Hopefully it makes things just a bit easier for us all as the forum continues to grow!
