Merz beim Schwanen

Yeah @Filthy gotta say I looove these shirts, esp the Henley. I’ll be getting more. Very hooked.
I have two items from their store in my cart and I had to pause and think, "do I really need $400 worth more of t-shirts?"
@steelworker I will have to check out duckworth, but I am reluctant to for the above reason. Thanks though ️Also, looking good Mr. Pfaff

I took @Palmer 's advice and copped a Merz B henley. It's so nice!! Love the mother of pearl buttons and the knit cuffs on the henley. The stripes are sick too. Also I splurged and got one of those sea island cotton t-shirts. It is unbelievable how soft it is. I would have bought it when I was at Self Edge but they didn't have my size.
-
That Henley looks gorgeous Mike.
How does the sizing run?
-
Looks great @Filthy! Sadly, my 215 t shirt was accidentally washed and dried with some towels and now it's too short so I may end up selling it. Pain.

@bryaneidins70 the body is roughly the same size as the other size 2xl tee I have but the sleeves are longer and slimmer. A 2xl in the henley is good for me. But I could have gotten away with a smaller size on the non-henley regular striped tee, if you know what I mean. Basically you might want to size up on the henley or not depending on how loose you like your tees to fit.

I just tried the sea island cotton shirt on and it is amazing. Like if they made a shirt out of MDMA this would be it.

@Filthy surprised me with a very heavy Merz B Schwanen tee, and I can’t say enough good things about it. The weight is easily double digits / yard and the slub is out of control. Extremely textured hand. It’s gonna age amazingly. Despite the fabric weight, the weave feels airy enough for this to be an all-season tee. Which is great because I enjoy heavy fabric year round.
I needed a new T shirt brand and this is it. I love the IH knit tees but miss the slightly heavier and softer bodies of their loopwheeled tees of yore. The slub pattern is distinctive and unmistakable, and with washes and wear promises to pronounce even further.
Wish I could capture the texture but here’s the fit (large, also my IH western, work, and tee size):
Thanks Mike @Filthy !!

You're welcome man. I am so glad you like it. Yeah it's pretty crazy how heavy they are….
-
Is it the 215 style?
Merz 50s T-Shirts are my go to. The 215 is cut the same AFAIK but somehow different colours run differently. Got a 215 in Army Green which fit great and had one in Natural and that was huge. Could also be just a mis-tagged one though.
-
@beautiful_FrEaK it's the 14oz 2S14
-
Oh I see, thanks. 380 g on the 2s14 vs 245g on the 215.
That's some beefy fabric -
They have a brick red that is making my trigger finger itch along with that very green @beautiful_FrEaK
The fabric is SO beefy and I love the little slub blisters everywhere. Washed it cold overnight and it is still drying but I look forward to seeing how the fabric took the wash.
I think I'll also grab another Tezomeya, another very textured loopwheel maker, though quite different.
-
@mclaincausey I've got this shirt in the natural color and it's incredible, the texture is nuts
-
Innit tho @Joberwocky ? I don't fully grok this 2 needle shit they're talking but I can't argue with the results.
Interesting page here on their fleet of loopwheelers: https://www.merzbschwanen.com/manufacturing-good-originals

Recently there was a documentary on the French/German channel ARTE about Merz. But I doubt you can watch it from your country…
https://www.arte.tv/de/videos/100291-002-A/re-die-modeverweigerer/
Anyway, I saw the 2S14 features a relaxed fit and I prefer my t-shirts to be regular/slim. And one thing, I usually wear t-shirts when it's warm and a heavyweight fabric is kinda self-defeating (in my book)

Here's a very non- glamorous picture of my freshly washed 24oz Merz b tee standing up. Pardon the cat hair. It wouldn't stand completely up but pretty close.
-
I ended up nabbing the heavyweight Henley (same 14oz fabric as these tees) in both the ink blue and the barn red. While I was tempted to keep buying their stuff in "natural" (any day over actual white, when the color is done right) I decided I needed to add a touch of color to my base layer wardrobe. I've got the IH waffles in grey and white, so I didn't want too much redundancy
-
So my Henleys and sweatshirts showed up today, amazingly 4 days after ordering them.
The Henley is the same 14oz as the tee shirt I got in natural and the construction details and different stitches for the wrists, hem, and button collar are amazing. I never thought I'd be so into how a garment is put together, but this forum gave proven otherwise
I got both a 10 and 15 ounce sweatshirt as well, the lighter of the two in something of an oatmeal/natural merle and the heavier in a dark grey. I love my UHFs but wanted to pad out my basics a bit. The 10z sweat will be fantastic for layering under my N1 or stormrider, and has a nice soft hand feel. The 15oz reminds me of the XHS denim vs the 21iz. While the 21oz is thicker the density of the XHS and the rigidity of the fabric is what makes it so interesting. The 15oz sweat fabric is a much tighter, denser weave, and while the sweatshirt doesn't have the bulk you might expect the fabric feels bulletproof.
All in all the quality is top notch and I'm SUPER stoked on the pieces. Ink blue and barn red Henley, two neutral sweats, more pics if anyone wants to see them outside of production shots

Pretty sick @Joberwocky I was looking at the Henley too.. I am keen on a pair of their sweatpants when I get the money.
I wear my 14 oz tee under my two favorite IH long sleeves pretty much every day. I just washed it. The only thing that sucks is that I wish this was a 2xl so I could put it in the dryer. When I get a chance I will probably buy a 2xl and keep my XL to do a screen print on and cut the neck and sleeves out of.
I could try and look up the numbers of the two IH long sleeves I love but it's easier just to take a picture.
