Take the Chūō Main Line from Shinjuku to Hachioji. It take between 45 and 90 mins depending upon whether you get a fast or slow train - I never know what I am doing so I just get the first one that comes along. Once in Hachioji you will need to grab a taxi. It is about a 15 minute taxi ride and don't expect the taxi driver to have a clue where you are going
Best to print out the Kanji address as per here and show that to the taxi driver:

I'm planning on a visit there probably end of the year. would like to check, do the guys over there speak english well? reckon they would have picked up a couple of lessons from G&P yeah?
the last time I went Tokyo, I had problems communicating with some stores cos they either can't speak english or it's quite basic that it makes it hard to get any message across.

alright that sound great. but are the pricing the same with yours? or they differ?
btw, I'm just curious. so G you and P can speak very fluent Japanese? else how do you both communicate with H?

It is the correct address, maybe it gets stuffed when you translate…..
Ah so it is. Translate messes it. Thanks again.

Anyone knows any good sights, foods or places to go near the IHHQ?
-
Not too much in the area from what I saw when there. Am the guys there could get you taken some where (they are as lovely as everyone here, says. (Please pass on a hello to them for/from me)).
What Giles has said about the taxi drivers, a) not speaking/reading english, and b) not having a clue where you're going is 100% correct. I ended up around the corner @ a temple (1 minute walk away), he was sure I wanted the temple not IH-HQ.

We had the adventure of a lifetime when me and my wife decided to take the bus from Hachioji station to IHHQ in 2011. Got off at the wrong stop and wandered around for some time before we found a motorcycle shop and the guys there knew where we heading and printed out maps and stuff for us. They spoke as much english as we did japanese but everything worked out fine in the end

Has anyone tried to take a bus there? Would anyone care to share any bus numbers besides taking a cab
