IH-634SV - The Vulcan - 18oz Raw Straight Cut Jean (With Hidden Pockets)
-
3 hot soaks, 3 washes, about 9 months wear off and on. I got a pair of 17 oz Samurai Wrangler-RRs to wear while it was really hot out. Since these cause some major bat wings on the hot days.
I had to give these a hot wash since my cat threw up on them. That'll teach me to leave 'em laying around…. It's a shame too, since the combs on the back are
only very light in color.Edit: very faint, you can hardly see them at all. Other than the back pockets, it seems like the front of these are fading faster than the back. I was pissed that I had to wash them again.I'll take some more photos in the sun tomorrow if I get a chance. Getting dark now.

^Thanks. I just noticed an erroneous statement in my post though. The honeycombs are only faint. They are hardly showing at all.
The indigo looks great though- and the leg twist is crazy. Those are coming along well! The Vulcans are a hell of a pair of jeans.
It is awesome how luxurious and soft the denim is. These feel like some jersey knit sheets on the inside or a super soft flannel shirt. Sweatpants-esque maybe?

Coming up to 2 months of 5 days a week wear and these are still tough as nails. Waiting for that magical softness you're all talking about. They're starting to break in, in terms of shape, but still a very long way from soft. This is an enjoyable pair of jeans, the journey is the destination.

I've been wearing mine every day since May, and they finally broke somewhere around the first week of August, but they are still nowhere near as soft as my 21 oz. 634S. That being said, the denim has softened quite a bit from where it started. I really like these jeans- the fit is perfect, I love the extra pockets and the details, and the 18 oz denim is the bees knees. The fades are just barely starting to show, and the Vulcans put up with a summers worth of hard abuse without even flinching. I bet you're getting close to the point where they'll start cooperating- mine got soft in the seat first, and the softening seemed to correspond with losing the initial hairiness of the denim.
-
I broke mine in with a few hot soaks. I use Woolite softener and detergent and softener. The we're sort of baggy so twice I put them in the dryer using the fabric softener on the heavy duty setting, high heat until they were slightly damp and wore them to set the creases. The Max Power method. All the hairy fibers have broken off and the denim is silky and smooth. I wore these nonstop since January. Sometimes even slept in them, but at least 90 hours a week.

Thanks Adman, really enjoy our shared evolution/interaction. Especially knowing you're a few months ahead of me and have already been down this path. Much thanks
Yea, totally! One of the cool things about this forum- checking out how others are doing with their jeans and sharing the journey.
Man FBJ- that's a lot of break in- I get why they're so soft for you now!
I bought my Vulcans with the idea that they would be strictly work/abuse jeans, but I like them so much I'm wearing them all the time now. My 634S are feeling lonely! I have a pair of Edwins that were looking great, but they feel like they're made out of tissue paper now- Iron Heart weight and durability is addicting.

Just noticed the knife fade on the back left pocket. One of my favorite features on the Vulcans are the selvedge pockets in the back- perfect for keys, knives, etc…
That is an awesome and unique fade! -
@suro
depends on your thighs. I like my 634s in size 31 way better than the fit o my 634sv. I think if I woulda went size up Ida been happy. Can't seem to sell them because the denim is so Rad. I keep saying ima loose 3-5lbs ha. Also I think because the thighs are so much tighter it cause the rise to seem quite a bit lower.Joshjames
