I’m gonna dub the 555’s as pocket peach gains.
& thanks for the link it helped connect the dots always saw those terms mentioned & thought they meant something completely different.

This is brilliant. I’m using that phrase [emoji1]

The new 14oz (142) utilises the same construction techniques as the 21oz so may have some of it’s airy properties. @Appfaff might be able to speak to that. He’s the only one who could at the moment.
Hey @Stuart.T - the new 14oz denim (142) is probably what you will want for the summer heat. It’s constructed the same way as the flagship 21 (as @neph93 stated) so it moves, stretches naturally, and has a nice breath ability to it. Where it differs is the weave tension, however. The 142 denim has a much more dense feel to it, and a natural crispness much like the old (current) 14oz., although the current 14oz has a more purplish hue, where as the 142 is so dark blue, it’s almost black in low light.
The new 142 denim has kept me very comfy, even in mid 80 degree, humid weather. And I easily drove 10 hours in them the other day, even before they are properly broken in.
The 18oz denim, when broke in, is extremely soft, versatile, and I feel it’s quite comfy - but when paired with the snug fit of the 555, and when new, it’s a bit of a sweat machine. I would
Easily wear broken in 18oz in the early summer months, but I would opt away from the new and rigid stuff most likely.Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

@RoxRocks86 I am totally with you regarding your thoughts on this fabric. Love the fuzzy neppiness it has. It's a shame it's being retired and isn't available in more cuts. This needs to be done in a 777 cut (tag size 35 too

^ Yeah, definitely surprised that the 18 oz. is endangered & in only a few cuts. It just seems like something that would fly off the shelves considering the great characterisitics this denim has. Glad I snagged a pair before it disappeared.
& thanks @rocket!

This OG version of the 18oz is old school. Nearly as old as the 21oz. It was what the first iteration of the 666 cut was made out of I believe. So it has been used a lot previously and has sold well.
I can advocate for the new «vintage style» 18oz though. I’ve owned both, and the OG stuff is very nice but the new stuff is super lovely. Hairy and a great shade of indigo, it fades quickly, more like the UHR but breathes well too.

+1 - the vintage 18oz is REALLY awesome [emoji41]

In w/the new out w/the old. Gotta check out the vintage 18 oz. thread to see what’s up!

It's different enough from the OG 18oz to justify owning both, for sure. Both are great fabrics as pretty much every IH denim is.
-
You’re right on that, tons of great fabrics to choose from. The only problem is sizing. I’m outta luck on the cuts for the 18 oz. vintage, but that just means more wear time for the OG 18s

Have you checked out SelfEdge yet? They have their own IH cut, the 633, and it's available in the 18oz vintage fabric among several others. It basically has the top block of a 634 but then tapers down to a smaller hem. It's a good cut, might be one to try out in the future.

@RoxRocks86 we have a 555 cut in vintage 16oz denim dropping this Spring Summer too..

Edit: 7 months. Haven't washed em yet. These things are stubborn as hell, but also durable as hell. No signs of damage yet, despite quite a bit of pretty intense activity in them. Think they are really starting to get interesting in person, but they're not quite photographing as well yet.
Not sure what happened here:

Thanks. I don't feel like they quite need one yet, so I'll just keep chugging along until they do. I'm not really sure how they manage to still look OK, filth wise, at this point.
