Hi to all the committed runners.
Me and my wife, Jules, (Black Orchid on this forum) have been running 4-5 times a week for coming up to 2 years.
Our motivation? to ensure we can continue to fit into our Iron Heart gear! Also for fitness, well being, enjoyment, achievement and, as we run together sometimes - unity.
I'm off for my first run of 2015, which will be a short 30 minute jaunt due to my alcohol intake last night!
I've attached a comedy collage just before heading out -
Me too, had a ropy end of 2014 running wise and need to get back out there [emoji57]

2nd day of the new year and 2nd run of the new year, this time a little longer; 40 minutes.
Went out with Jules, @Black Orchid, who is suffering with a cold but still soldiered on - gotta love that!
Was hard today as it was colder than yesterday (warmest new years day in 99 years) and the difference in temp is felt in the lung department. -

got a few inches of snow and ice here in NY and the highway department wasnt able to reach my neck of the woods just yet. i strapped on my new balance winter mt110,some microspikes, packed my UD hydration vest, selfie stick and than i got the legs moving. i was suppose to get intervals done today, but the knee deep snow had proven enough difficulty… just enough to get up to 90% max HR

Wow…. Respect

Looks like such a pretty run! I do like running in the snow.
Heading off to run another relay. It's Friday-Saturday and goes from Miami to Key West. I've never been to that part of Florida so it will be a nice way to see it.

set out for a long run this morning. i headed out, was hoping the large amount of hikers and runners in the area were able to smoothen out the trails in the mountains today. The snow was still too packed, and in the areas exposed to sunlight had proven even more difficult to trek through. Winter this year is proving to be more difficult.

How can something that beautiful be difficult? Enjoy

After another few inches of ice, snow and dropping temps, some of the local skiers have paved a slight path. Most of it had turned rock solid which was better suited for me thanks to some microspikes. Made my way through a single track overlooking the Hudson. Gorgeous day to be outdoors.
Stay tuned, thursday is predicting more inclement weather patterns and sunday will be -20. Going to have to figure a way to not get dicksicle again

Cross post. I must have been tired. I had meant to post it on this thread.
A few photos from this weekend's race. My sleep schedule is all out of sorts, but trying to right myself in Key West.
Start Line at sunrise in Miami.
Met up with the girls van after the first 6 legs.
Ran 11.8 miles through the Everglades at night.
My last run was across a few bridges before Key West. Too tired to remember which.
Finish was pretty amazing. It took the team nearly 35 hours to cover about 200 miles. Fun way to see the countryside and a perfect excuse to stay a few more days.

I love the climatic contrasts on this page, great stuff from both of you.

When I was at school we had an annual run…

Wow, that puts the standard cross country course to shame. I'm reminded of the Dipsea Race, which seems similar in spirit, if a bit shorter.
