Red Wing Shoes

I agree. I like RW and wear them for work but Wesco is an entirely different level.

In theory, properly treated leather plus a good welt will be pretty effective at keeping water out. In practice the wear and tear of walking around in a boot over long periods of time, plus the action of heating and cooling which can cause changes in the leather and glue used will eventually open up small gaps. Melting snow will find those gaps.
The RW’s are pretty poor in very wet weather conditions tbh.
yepp, that's logic… but as i refused to wear anything else but sneakers and trainers till i was 32 i'm pretty stoked since 3 years or so how warm and dry and safe a foot can be in winter, even in red wings haha

Those are great. I have the JCrew version from 2011
And they are outstanding boots.I had them resolved with the Vibram Christy and they are beyond comfy.
Nice pick up

Does anyone know which RW's these are? …and where I can snag a pair!
-
Thanks for the info @Steffen - I think you are right. I searched the 2021 Vibram sole on line and came across these Viberg beauties:
I can see this sole on a pair of 8166 looking pretty close to the boots in the Iron Heart store.
That said I may now be heading towards my first Viberg purchase! -
8001 aka Ronald McDonald shoes
oro leather and for some odd reason not sold in the so you have to track them down from the European or Asian market

I already own a pair of RW engineer boots (black), iron ranger (russet), and logger (black), and now quite fancy a pair of rough out Pecos.
Any views on these? I've toyed with the idea of Wesco, Viber, Lofgren, or Whites, but I just can't justify the almost treble price tag. RW have always seen me right, and the guys in the London store are super nice, so I don't mind splurging my cash there.
So, views on those Pecos?
