Just bought a pair of the 9060 yesterday at F&P. Not sure what they have still in stock for sizes.
Fingers crossed that they fit.
I had sworn off RW because the newer iterations of IR did not last for me like the old ones. But the 9060 really speak to me and I "needed" a black boots.
Too late for thunderdome unfortunately.

@FlavourFade I get mine shipped from Stumptown Japan via a proxy.
-
@Perpetual_beta still figuring out if I maybe wait a little because I am wearing my custom 875 for thunderdome right now and won't wear them for a couple months anyway. Fingers crossed your pair fits!!
-
@Mlwdp why don't you buy a pair of eBay and what proxy do you use?
-
@FlavourFade its overpriced in EBay imo. I use Worldshopping. They’re appearing almost everywhere now and their service is pretty good.

Scored some 8876 seconds for $140. They don’t seem like seconds at all. Copper rough and tough is my favorite RW leather -
Looking at these boots, I don’t think they’re seconds. They don’t have the little punch hole that red wing always puts on seconds. And I’ve had seconds before and they have flaws. I can’t find any on these! Besides the scuffs from being in the box and sliding around. I’m stoked

@Jcaz6996 yeah cr&t is tricky to keep looking like new. I have some 9111’s and I used mink oil on them. NEVER AGAIN. That stuff made them so dark and they will never look the same again. I have some 1907s too and I used red wings boot cream on them and those actually turned out pretty good

50% off at the local AD today. In store only . The Red Wing 8208 . Dusty Rose Abilene. Might not be for everyone but I dig them

Day 3 of 9060s. Increasing wear. Walked 3 miles to day. They seem to break in a bit faster than what I remember from IRs. But then I always break them in quick and walk a lot.
It is a well made boot with a leather midsole (rare for RW), which may contribute to the pleasant wear from the get go. No obvious manufacturing flaws.
The laces are atrocious. Too short and come loose in minutes. Immediately ordered from Pisgah Limited.
Will post some photos after a bit more wear.
Overall, seems to be a reasonably good boot. Hoping to get 2-3 years and 2 resoles out of them.

Really enjoying the varying stages of patina happening on these Red Wings. The Iron Ranger and 875 I swapped in paracord laces from Pisgah Range, which I think have really elevated the look and feel of these boots. I’m also digging the crocking effect happening in the rough out on the Olive Mojave, and hoping to give them more wear time this year. The newest pair are the Black Prairie Moc Toe, which I’ve swapped in with whiskey colored laces from Guarded Goods.

So I've complained before about my Red Wing leather footbeds breaking in in a lumpy way in every single pair i have. I've been too stubborn to admit that these may just not be for my feet, or that maybe I got the wrong size. Every pair bothers my left big toe and I've even considered removing it for a better fit. I'm far too invested in my 5 pairs to give up just yet.
I'm a 10D brannock, wear a 10 in all sneakers and I go with a 9D in Last 8, Last 23, Last 45, and a 9.5D Last 210. My toes are about a finger width away from the tip and all are pretty snug on the ball of my foot (at the widest part of the boot) when breaking in, but relax eventually and don't put pressure on the inside or outside. The left big toe, however, never seems to get the right 'print'. Maybe i have an impingement I should get checked, or maybe its just a quirk of construction and the outside edge where the welt is stitched beneath the slab of leather is just not allowing my toe to compress that area. I think I'll try doing the soak-and-wear on a pair to see if it sets that print better.Any ideas?
-
What exactly bothers your toe? You said they have ample space on the sides? I’m a 10D on a brannock, and I wear a 9.5ee in my redwing mic toes. That gives me a perfect fit when new, then they break in a little and feel too big, then a little more break in makes them feel perfect again.
-
@Go-For-Chill Iike i was saying, it feels like there is a ridge along the edge of the leather slab footbed that is not allowing my toe to compress the leather/cork. I probably just need to go with a Wide, regardless of my brannock measurement D. Can never have too much toe space...
-
@WhiskeySandwich I started with a D width, but I felt like I was always walking on the welt. Might be what you’re experiencing?
-
@Go-For-Chill yeah its not like the upper leather is flexing so much that my foot is hanging out beyond the footbed, but it does feel like i'm on the welt.
