Watches - another OCD problem
-
This is a beautiful work of art
-
It is, but it’s impractically designed. Lots of space that isn’t functional and the way that that space extends over your metatarsals for a left handed wear seems like it could be uncomfortable when you bend your wrist back. Those aspects detract from it being something I would wear although I admire the design very much.

@mclaincausey what we do for art.

@Graeme thanks for the heads up! I’ll check that out

Stopped by the Montana Watch Company boutique in Bozeman. They take ETA and other ebauches and put them in watches that often have engravings on the cases and enameled, MOP, or engraved dials, often paired to tooled leather straps, giving them a distinctive western turn of the century aesthetic. Not for me, but fun nonetheless. I thought this engraved elephant with a case engraved to look pachydermal was interesting.
A couple of other specimens

I said I wasn't going to buy another watch

On the wrist today: Mido Ocean Star 600

@jonnyv nice OG, I have one as well. Great watches.

Our local boutique had the white speedy in stock and I have to say it is quite beautiful.
Also pretty lovely is this Unimatic

Christopher Ward the twelve, fun summer watch on the rubber strap. Punches above its weight on bracelet imo.

@Anesthetist What did you think of the white speedy? Seen one briefly in shop window but not had the chance to try one on. Hoping to pick one up in the future or the white explorer two
-
@Cutlasshound I'm not @Anesthetist, but I had a chance to look at the white Speedy in Melbourne a few months ago. It's prettier than the original, and a bit less tool-like.
If I was buying a Speedy, I'd go for the white dial.

@Cutlasshound I like the white speedy but for my money I would try and find the Tokyo Olympics version with the white silver dial and burgundy deep red bezel.
Similar look but possibly a bit more of a limited release? Looks to be a cheaper pick up vs the new release white dial which is yet to really see the secondary market.
They were part of an Olympic set originally I believe but you can find them for sale as individual pieces.
