Haha yes, I feel you on that — I've had similar experiences trying to give my boots any real wear during my cushy at-home working situation
-
The black cats are the most comfortable boots right out of the box I've ever worn. Like slippers.
Just ordered the Shinki HH combat boots in black tea core from Stuf|f Fine Goods out of Germany. Very excited to see them in person

Well….. Thoughts?
They are beauties. Did they happen to come with black laces as well? I'm thinking I'll be putting black leather laces on mine.

Yep they are… Shinki. Horsebutt. Tea Core… probably the most amazing leather available. Didn’t like the brown leather laces too and changed to black nylon laces. This leather is really something else, can’t wait to see how it will age. By the way when it comes to comfort their desert boots are like walking on clouds

I'm excited for my pair to be delivered. Looking like it'll be a bit though. Stuck in Koeln, Germany….. Which based on a Reddit thing is a recent problem for a number of people. So I guess I'll see them in person in a few weeks maybe....

Lofgrens Engineers finally showed up… they fit great. I was really nervous about the sizing on these. For anyone curious about sizing I had the opposite experience as @Daniel San They are super hard for me to get on but once I do they fit great! I went down a half size from my redwing size. Super comfortable! Special thank you to @VoodooRay for a great price on a great boot!!
-
Boots look great! My experience is the same. Half size down from Red Wing. Used a plastic bag to get them on the first few weeks but once they are on the fit is perfect.
-
These are my first pair of engineers. Im surprised how comfortable boots are without laces and extra leather pushing on the top of my foot… they are so comfortable! The last must be a good fit for the shape of my foot. @BloodnThunder I know you have the devils causeway engineers (super jealous by the way) but do you also have a cxl pair? Curious if the sizing is the same? I’m gonna find a pair of those causeways sooner or later

@Memphisakers
Hey Josh, great news really happy for you that they fit !
I feel good in my 9.5 too, try to wear them as often as possible.
I think I didn’t mentioned before, the are not that easy to put on like the size 9 ones
The left foot is pretty easy, but the right food needs a bit more effort no need for a plastic bag but a significant difference to the left boot..and absolutely not comparable to the sneaker like size 9‘s .
I will go for the donkey punchers next…. -
What leather care do you use for Lofgren CXL ?
I found a special cxl care from Saphire , has someone ever used it?
any recommendations ? -
I think Nick Horween said you don’t need to do much but that if it gets dry to treat CXL with neatsfoot oil. Be sure to keep oil away from the outsole and heel where it can compromise the inter-layered glue. @Daniel San

They finish CXL with neatsfoot which is probably why Nick made the recommendation to use it if you need maintenance. Agreed that they should be brushed and scrubbed routinely even if I think they don’t need annual oiling. Scrubbing with a wet piece of canvas will do wonders for the outsole and heel.
The quote from the above link:
The last step for Chromexcel is coat of Neatsfoot Oil, so when people ask me how to condition this leather, that's always my first recommendation
-
Here is a video interview with Skip Horween…I guess he doesn’t specifically say they use it to finish CXL. He said they use it for shell cordovan and that they have used it the entire time they have been in business. He also said that is what he uses on his CXL boots.

Thanks for your tips guys !
I ordered the saphir care for CXL .
Don’t think I can get yours here in Germany@Memphisakers
Your boots look awesome Josh !! -
Thanks @Daniel San
I think the only two care products Horween sells is Venetian shoe cream and Saphir… either one of those is probably a safe bet. I went for VSC because it is a part of Horween history and it’s cheap here in the US. -
Cool, didn’t knew that they sell the Saphire care.
So that was the right choice.
Ordered the donkey punchers today extremely excited
