Some gravedigging…
It seems that I have a faible for those brands that underwent a bigger change and after that, were bashed by some guys
The construction seems to be good so far. Stitching looks good throught nearly the whole pair, my only concern are the button holes. They were kinda tight (this pair was teh second worst I ever buttoned up) and here is the only point I encounterd loose threads / left over threads.
The details are nice. Raised belt loops done perfectly, nice buttons, the leather patch we all know has a nice touch to it.
Now to the denim. As you know, it is (partly) sanforized and you can really feel it. The surface, although there are some irregularities in the denim, is very smooth and nearly slippery. The denim bleeds a much. The denim should still be made from Arizona and California cotton which should be long staple cotton, so a softer denim. However, the denim is quite stiff, actually it really hurts at the back of my knees where the combs formed (possibly also an effect of the tighter fit).Enough talk, fit pics after 1 day of wearing. Size 34

Yeah that is a good idea.
I thought posting in this thread would be a better solution than opening another one just for FabFour jeans -
Always loved the patches on Skull jeans. And though I don't generally like red tabs, the Skull one is cool.
-
Coronado leather has some cool ones as does obbi good label. The former used to have a shell cordovan one but I no longer see it on the site. I'd call and ask, their prices are very reasonable for the quality. Same with OGL.

Ok, time to revive this thread. Can anyone tell me anything about Skull jeans these days? I read they went through some changes some years back and that the new cotton being used wasn't to the liking of many. Also heard SE stopped selling Skull for some reason. I ask all this as I'm in the hunt for a slim jean with taper and the 5507xx 6x6 may be the one i've been looking for. Seen some fit pics on Fuk and they look perfect. Is the quality still there? Beautiful Freak: love those Skulls you've posted photos for, how did you get on with them in the end?

I am happy with that pair. It's a bit slim in the top block but works. With hindsight the 5507 would have been better though
The quality is great. Up there with the other Japanese brands. Since Benny from Take5 is involved you can trust the quality. -
Those look fantastic Mr Twin!

I'm a big fan of Skull. From my experience I can totally vouch for the quality of denim and great cuts. The denim did change at some point, but its no better or worse than before, just different. I don't know what went on behind the scenes a couple of years ago, but it seems the brand was verbally bashed by some people for personal reasons.
Regarding construction, they use an all cotton thread which has a reputation for wearing/breaking more than some brands. However the actual quality of craftsmanship is great on my pairs. If you can accept that the seams may need the occasional bit of TLC, you're onto a winner!
And if you buy from BIG, ask about the red tab
