Ti-Lock is his masterpiece
-
Haven't handled To-Lock, but I'd have to call Sebenza his masterpiece based on pioneering framelock and establishing a whole new popular locking mechanism industry-wide. Plus he didn't design the Ti-Lock.
-
CR designed the Ti-Lock w/ the Hawk bros. His knives are nice but there are many manufacturers that do it better then Chris Reeve. I have had every model of CRK. His knives are expensive and for a bit more money you can get a superior custom knife.
-
I think it's a masterpiece. It's easily user serviceable, it pioneered a terrific locking mechanism that took the industry by storm, has a great Spartan aesthetic, really nice blade designs and grinds, world-class pivot, and built to outstanding tolerances (measured in micrometers) for a manufactured blade. $0.02
Oh, and I'd add that no one stands behind their blades more than CRK. Any discussion of cost relative to other makers has to include that fact.

Looking for a lockback hunter, about 4", any suggestions?

which chris reeve do you recommend?
Sebenza. Large or small depending on your needs
Simple, classic, the knife by which all modern designs are measured by
You can get other knives that his this feature and that feature, but when you break it down to bare bones, the Sebenza is all you need in a highly refined package
Additionally, CRK's warranty and service is great, which is important if it's going to be a long term user

Looking for something more like this, but stepped up a notch

^check out Hiroaki Ohta
-
Ohta rules, but be prepared to pay for that style from him.
-
The idea is I want that knife style, I am just getting to the point where over the top in my taste hasn't happened yet. I had a old redbone Case that was perfect, but those always have a way of walking off. I have a bit of a collection, but nothing that says "my perfect knife" Will check suggestions, maybe I'll find it.

For a production slip joint, I always recommend Great Eastern Cutlery and it's sub brands: Tidioute and Northfield.
I don't really understand what you're looking for. Knife style as in traditional vs modern? Or the blade style? Natural handles? Synthetic? Liner lock? Lockback? Double/single bolsters?
This is a listing of their designs
