Pocketknives/Kitchen Knives/Fixed Blades

Picked these up today, green for myself and the black is a Father’s Day gift for my dad. -
I agree and I have carried a pocket knife clipped to my side right pocket "tip up" for 40 years plus. My current EDC is a Spyderco Delica 4 with a half-serrated VG-10 blade in black tactical.
My other knife is based on the fact that I practice FMA (Filipino Martial Arts) is a folding Karambit. Specifically the Fox 599 in Titanium with Elmax stainless steel blade.
Another essential in my mind is a torch or flashlight as they call it in Canada, which I carry in my back pocket clipped. I use the Nextorch TA30C.

@endo That is a really nice design. Is it a fixed blade or folder?
-
folder @Denman-John
-
Hiroaki Ohta friction folder in desert ironwood today
-
@mclaincausey beautiful. I think desert ironwood is my favorite natural scale material.
-
@SKT well in that case, I should show you my Spyderco where I replaced the factory micarta:

Nice!
Picked up this Begg Knives slipjoint the other day. £50. Very solid and nicely made
-
@mclaincausey oh man I love that…and such a cool juxtaposition with that knife design
-

Father’s Day gift
Spyderco StovePipe

@mclaincausey Love Ohtas. I’ll have to get a pic of the family.
-
@Anesthetist I also have these guys. I really don’t understand how his stuff is at such low price points
-
@mclaincausey me either, his craftsmanship is superb
Nice collection!

I sold all my really nice folders when I realized I don’t carry one enough to justify the cost. Today while grocery shopping at Walmart I picked up a couple budget folders just to have something for when I do want it and I’m really impressed.
Top is the Keyshawn Cryo, a Hinderer design flipper with open assist.
Bottom is the CRKT Squid, a Burnley design that’s really a cool little knife. Both have great action and smooth steel frames that won’t eat up my pockets.
-
Picked up a new CRK Sebenza haven’t had one in years, I grabbed one last week. This is my first time with the new glass blasted. Its sweet! My other Sebenzas I’ve had and sold over the years were sandblasted.
I might send my Umnumzaan over to get done in this finish too

@Matt some mass produced knives are built to pretty decent tolerances, certainly good enough to carry and use. One of the knives I really love to carry a cheap Chinese mass manufactured liner lock that came free with a purchase of a ZT flipper from an online seller, but it feels great in the hand, great action/detente, great steel. I wound up using this freebie more than the knife I actually bought. I love my “nice” knives but they really aren’t necessary, and whatever is in my pocket is going to get properly used, and not caring if it is damaged in the process is key… so I’ve shifted my priorities around cutlery for sure.

My collection, the most carried is the beat up Swiss Army Pioneer with bail, goes great in a 5th pocket. -
this is my fav in my collection

That is a thing of beauty @mclaincausey. Reminds me of the older Chris Reeves Mnandis with beautiful wooden scales: ironwood, burl and cocobolo.
