Ciano Farmer (Denim from Texas)

Ok, so I just came across this new Kickstarter and at first I was thinking their stuff looks like nothing special, but then I saw these 20oz jeans with some pretty nice details and hidden rivets.
Anyway, here they are…

Just wanted to put in a plug for Ciano on here. I've got 3 pairs of pants and a vest from him. All very high quality.
The embroidery is gone, as are the selvedge details. All details are now VERY subdued. Classic, solid construction by one of the nicest guys you can meet.
I hope it's ok to post his site here, slap me if not…

Reviving an old thread here. I stumbled across Ciano Farmer about a year ago in my search for some brown jeans. Apparently no one likes or makes chocolate brown jeans so I was really excited to see that he offered 12 oz and 18 oz brown duck canvas versions. After researching online for a while and reading about the painful wait times I decided to just get them because of how cheap they were. FINALLY after seven months they came and THEY WERE TOO BIG. His size chart says that the fabric shrinks down in the wash and he advised me to size up one because of that. Bad idea. No shrinkage at all after hot washing. I had to send them back and get a size smaller. After an additional annoying 1.5 months they came back today. Thank Sweet Baby Jesus they fit. I just threw them in the wash to get the chalk marks off of them and may post a fit pic later.
What I do like is that the quality is decent (not at Iron Heart's level though). Everything is customizable which is awesome. I got vintage penny buttons.
If you get something from him be prepared for an insane lead time and make sure you know what size and cut to get. The customer service was touch and go, but at the end of the day I got them so I guess that's okay.
Here are some pics.

@leicaboss Yeah I would say so. The fabric choices and endless customization are one of a kind. This pair is the 12 oz and I actually ordered the 18oz version recently because I'll just forget about it until I get a shipping notification. If you are patient he'll pretty much do anything within his skillset. I've heard of people even sending him a pair of jeans and he'll copy it in whatever fabric you want. I really wanted one of his car coats for a while but I keep buying Iron Heart stuff so I don't know if I'll get around to it. If you aren't in a rush you can't really beat the price. If you're between sizes… you should probably go with the smaller size. From my experience just go with the pre wash measurements.
@JDelage The secret ingredient is crime! There's plenty of jewelry out there made from coin currency so why not make use of the most useless piece of US currency out there? My concern is that the penny and rivet combo will shred the fabric over time. We shall see.

It was the horrendous lead times (way longer than advertised), coupled with no guarantee of what you'd end up with that turned me to IH a few years ago. I bought a few pieces, two of which didn't match my expectations at all, although he sorted them quickly, to be fair. CF is fine if you want a bargain, are in no hurry, and manage your expectations. He seems a very decent guy, but overwhelmed by orders.
After that, getting next day delivery, absolutely top quality products and a 99.9% guarantee of getting it right first time made IH's relatively high prices seem well worth it.

I couldn't have said it better myself. Waiting months for something sucks. Being left in the dark about your purchase sucks. Not knowing exactly what you're going to get sucks. Iron Heart for me was the solution to all of that. I may be new to this forum but I know why everyone here is so passionate about Iron Heart. You get what you pay for and you get it fast. There's no uncertainty and if you don't like it you can get a refund. Who else does that?? In this age of instant gratification Iron Heart is a godsend.
From my phone interactions with Ciano he seems like a passionate and sincere guy who it just absolutely swamped with orders. He recently moved his shop and from what I can tell lost whatever help he had. When I ordered the site said there was an 11-15 week lead time but in reality it was twice that. It's not a Lawless Denim situation, but it's pretty bad. At least there's light at the end of the tunnel.
