IH-101J - 1946 101J Riders Jacket
-
Here is my 101J. My beer belly makes it a tad tight to button the last two, but aside from that, I'm stoked for the fades to come. Does anyone else have an issue with buttoning? Do you just wear it unbuttoned most of the time? Or other jackets with that issue?
I plan to wear it to work indoors as often as I can.I'm also wearing my 555XHSIB in the first several photos. Digging the combo Iron Heart Canadian Tux. What do you all think? This is my first forum post.

That looks great! My 101J was challenging to button when new, but the holes got looser eventually and now it’s much easier to button and unbutton (one-handed!), even when my jacket is layered and thus tight. As for fading, you’re going to need a degree of patience—I found this one takes a while to be beaten into shape!
Mine, after a month of wear.

It is a tough jacket for sure. I wore it from 7am to 10pm yesterday and my armpits are sore
The articulated buttons were weird at first for sure and as you said they are getting easier. I can fit a hooded sweatshirt underneath, I like the wide arms. -
I have a type III vest made out of the same denim as this. It is also bonded to a red felt lining so even thicker and stiffer. It took a lot more than a month to soften it up. The evo you get along the way is worth it though.
I'm thinking by late spring I may win this battle!

Dig the demon pin @Oaktavia I always wanted this jacket…
Thanks, I think I typed in "hanyya enamel pain" into Etsy and found it.
The only thing that bugs me about the jacket is that I'm too paunchy to button it. Even though I usually leave my denim jackets open, the fact that can't is bothersome on occasion. At least I can fit a hoodie underneath, that would have been a deal breaker.

Jacket has stretched out a bit and is starting to fit better.
You got it done up! [emoji1] Looks good. I like the short and tight look on trucker jackets for those who can pull it off. It adds a whole other old school vibe to the style. I personally can’t manage it with my body type.

Brilliant @Oaktavia
And thanks for making me regret selling mine
-
@Max Power Aw man…and I did see that we have a similar body type. Oh well, at least there are other indigo jackets IH has to offer. Did you end up with replacing it with something different?

I suppose it just took some breaking in. Today is our last day in Maryland over 90 degrees until autumn weather hits. Then it's game on!

@Oaktavia well I replaced it with leather so I'm good. The opening was too tight for me so I sold it…

Jackets do loosen up with wear for sure. My trucker season is coming to an end sadly, although I'm thinking of using one as a shirt this autum/winter season, under a heavier jacket (my N-1, M65, or my new-to-me steerhide halfbelt).

My issue with IH denim jackets is that they are a bit snug overall. If I wear a XXXl shirt that’s 25 PTP how do I fit into a xxx or xxxxl that has a smaller PTP of 23-24 and a waist that’s proportionally smaller than the shirt I’m
Supposed to wear it over? I only bring this up because @maxpower talked about the opening of his jacket being snug -

I usually wear mine as a shirt, switching up with an actual shirt here and there. When it get to be winter here, I layer with a Cathartt jacket.
