IH-101J - 1946 101J Riders Jacket

I suppose it just took some breaking in. Today is our last day in Maryland over 90 degrees until autumn weather hits. Then it's game on!
Jackets do loosen up with wear for sure. My trucker season is coming to an end sadly, although I'm thinking of using one as a shirt this autum/winter season, under a heavier jacket (my N-1, M65, or my new-to-me steerhide halfbelt).
I usually wear mine as a shirt, switching up with an actual shirt here and there. When it get to be winter here, I layer with a Cathartt jacket.

My issue with IH denim jackets is that they are a bit snug overall. If I wear a XXXl shirt that’s 25 PTP how do I fit into a xxx or xxxxl that has a smaller PTP of 23-24 and a waist that’s proportionally smaller than the shirt I’m
Supposed to wear it over? I only bring this up because @maxpower talked about the opening of his jacket being snugThe 101 is a tricky cut- if I were to have sized up to an XXL, all the other proportions would be too large. I would say the cut overall could be improved to accommodate varied body sizes and types.
My type III fits me overall better and is the same size XL. That one won't see the light of day until I fade my 101 though, for sure

As long as I don’t have to close the lowest button…
Looks like a great fit dude. I don't usually button the last button (or two) even if it is comfortable, on account of style. Sort of like how men don't usually button the last suit jacket button. Wasn't there a politician that started that because of his big belly?
Just did a Google search and found this straight away:
"The tradition dates back to king Edward VII from the early 1900s. He unbuttoned the bottom of his waistcoat because he was too fat. He unbuttoned the bottom of his jacket to pay homage to the riding jacket that suits replaced."
But these of course a jean jackets…maybe the tradition rolled over. Or perhaps I've had enough coffee for the morning.

My SExIH type III is a size 42 and the fit is good except the sleeves are billowy. I can wear a Uhf underneath but I do keep the bottom button undone. I could probably wear a size size 40 if I was only gonna wear a tee, but I tend to layer more often than not with any jacket.

Looks good, in fact it looks really good. I would love to own one of these some day but unfortunately my closet only has room for the Stormrider.

Thanks, dude.
Has the Stormrider version been confirmed or is it still up in the air?

So I'm thinking about giving mine a wash, the armpits are starting to smell of b.o./deodarant.
Will the 18oz fabric stretch back out? It has definitely out stretched over the past few months to fit me better, but I'm worried about shrinkage…advice? Is there a way to remove armpit smell without washing? I wouldn't mind keeping the darkness of the denim at bay to achieve higher contrast fades.

If it isn’t too late then while drying you should use all your might and stretch the seams And back vertically. I’m thinking arms, side seams, front placket (button it up first) and from the middle of the collar to the middle of the hem of the opening, at the back.
K will do also.

Still quite damp this morning. I pulled and tugged the jacket while standing on it. It has a lot of stretch, I could really feel the denim give when I tugged. I tried it on and was able to button it easily and the length is about where it was before. Now it's super clean and ready for tomorrow
