IHJ-35-BLK - Japanese Horsehide Rider’s Jacket - Black (Tea-Core Dyed)

@Appfaff you have the campus jacket, right? I almost feel like it not being lined makes it hotter. I know that's not the case, but it sure feels that way sometimes.
@daltmeyer Thanks! Loving it so far.

@Max:
@Wlemon congrats to an awesome fit, wear it in good health!
@Chap I find it difficult to compare my Schott 519, Ihj35, Flat Head DPocket, FCl Leon 2mm and the Simmons Bilt. All have a unique and different character, the leathers also are very different. For example you'd think that the (I think) drum dyed steer hide of the Schott can't compete, but when I wear it I feel like it's an awesome and well aged jacket. Actually I think that every one of the jackets feels awesome when I wear it. In terms of just the leather I would say however that out of the box the flat Head is my favorite and I think it actually is shinki. It smelled the nicest, was very smooth and shiny yet you could already tell that there is a hidden structure waiting to give a great patina. The fcl looked flat and not as interesting by far when New, but now the patina is my favorite of all them. The ihj 35 has kept a lot of the shine and feels thicker and heavier than the shinki fh which is the same weight.
So you see it's hard to choose a favorite or even compare them. Regarding the weight, smell and patina I think I'd choose the flat Head or maybe a fcl 1.3mm which I don't own yet.
Thx @Max Power for sharing your thoughts… I agree in every point.

Cheers @Chap

The pockets on the Self Egde version are very convenient for storing things when you take the jacket off. I mostly use them for my hat and gloves.

Catching up here… that looks like a beautiful fit @Wlemon ! I have the SE version and it can be a bit warm for LA but, given the weather currently, it's perfect. These pics are inspiring me to wear mine out to dinner tonight now!
-
This is the SE version but no doubt they are both equally fantastic motorcycle jackets; well worth their price. I have mine since 2017. I use it on the bike for around town runs, and accepting the lack of protective inserts, I can’t imagine a better jacket for that.
I picked a size larger than the one advised by the SE salesperson in NYC because I’m used to loose jackets and always worn them this way but I now reckon he was probably right and I should’ve listened.

Fit check please. Thanks

Looks pretty tight. Don’t think you could get much more than a t-shirt under it. Do you plan on riding with it?
Thanks I plan on wearing it with a tee. No I don't ride.
-
@cooldude_abe I would size up even with a T
-
If you don't ride and only plan on a T underneath, you might be fine. Concern would be the sleeves coming up a bit short once creases set in. Sizing up may be a better option provided all the other measurements fall in line.
-
size up
-
If it's unlikely you'll zip it then it fits like a rock star. Otherwise size up. I think both are viable choices. (Get another and keep both…because why not?)
-
Thanks everyone, I will see if I can get a larger size up.
-
@cooldude_abe just from the looks I think it's spot on. Unless you want to layer a heavy shirt underneath it seems like a great fit. Also you should have some room through the zips on the side? They give a lot extra space
-
Hi it's quite comfortable with a t-shirt but I would like to be able to wear it with a hoodie. Thanks.

While visiting home and family back in July I hit up Self Edge and snagged one of these guys in 38/M. Absolutely amazing jacket!
