On the how do we stop the "crap-gold-chain-sellers" front.
We could perhaps disallow members who only post in "Stuff for Sale" if they are selling stuff that is completely unrelated to IH. But how do we determine if it is related to IH, or perhaps we just don't care.
I hate people who just post in the Stuff for Sale section and add no value to the wider community. But is that a good enough reason to ban them?

I think setting a low post ceiling for the whole marketplace is a good idea. The one on WTB served its function as far as scammers are concerned. Having one on FS and WTT will strike a balance between encouraging other types of posts, limiting bullshit and maintaining function.

Agreed, I thought this is what we had done already, and is what I was referring to earlier, but clearly misremembered!

@Chap maybe worth looking at this thread, and browsing like this instead of 'recent posts'
https://www.ironheart.co.uk/forum/index.php?topic=13182.0That way, you can see the B&S board here, and chose not to click on that thread(s)

Full ban - we can update the member rules and the email that goes out to new members. If you tell me what the thresholds are, I will update those….
I’m up to my tits at the minute in poolish and corona (not me but everyone else). So if you could that would be boss. I believe I set them at 5 posts to see the WTB. Should be enough?

Hope you didn't get me wrong. I am not against 'buying and selling'. But I think it should be in context and quality to what this forum and its members stand for. It should be limited to those who participate in the forum as 'real members' and not as a selling-only member. Because what's next? Used cars? Carpets?

Fully concur. There are other avenues for individuals to sell items not related/pertaining to the community and lines need to be drawn.
I think that the buying/selling feature is a great way for the community to support each other within reason and gives members access to items that are no longer available (extinct).

I've just sent this to a new member who asked how he should post a for sales thread….
_The Sales area of the forum is reserved for active members, that is people who actively participate in the forum, not just buying and selling.
If you join, and actively contribute, then we would be delighted, and the sales area will be opened up to you._
I think that shows our intent….
