Why do people ever think this will make the retailer look bad?
"Hey guys- guess what this asshole company did? When I bought something expensive from them, they wanted a signature on the delivery for security. Now I have to go out of my way to pick it up because I wasn't home. They couldn't have any way of knowing that, so now I'm going to just be a childish dick and send the package back, even though it was something I wanted. That will teach them a lesson! Who's with me?"
The lack of ability to think objectively, even just a little bit, amazes me.
And of course, packages these days are tracked constantly and their location is available online almost to the minute. It takes no effort whatsoever to be informed about your delivery down to the last detail.

I'm tempted to go back and tell him to send us cash, but not signed for as we may be at the pub when the package arrives….
Alternatively you could tell him that no one needs his dickhead-dollars (bellend-bucks, moron-monies) that badly, and that he’s cut off, because people like him wearing Iron Heart proves that there is such a thing as bad advertising.
I realise that this would render pointless your previous, and quite admirable restraint, but honestly, screw that guy.

We absolutely need to refer to IH gift voucher money as bellend bucks.
-
He's just come back to me and said, "I may just buy from you again because the jeans are awesome". That was it, nothing else.
Iron Heart- quality so good even dipshits can't resist!

…monitors Iron Heart "Introduce yourself" thread for dickheads, bellends, morons, twats, wankers, tossers, etc.
I have a trusted tailor who usually does great work. I asked for my IH-634SII pocket to be patched (the canvas on those has been unusually fragile) and they instead replaced the pocket. All fine and good except that the side seam is kind of a mess now and lacks the heavy gauge yellow thread. Of course I didn't notice this until I got home. As much as I'd like to take them back, I may just try my hand at a home repair--the work was otherwise pretty good and I don't want someone who doesn't "get" it to fuck it up further.
I also had a cobbler black the natural soles of my Lofgrens. I really didn't want that, I was very specific about just wanting the rubber heels replaced.
It is difficult to find folks who understand and deliver what our weird little culture values. I guess I'm just going to have to learn to send boots to Fukurokuju and ship jeans off to specialists. My impatience is the biggest challenge for something like that.

Giles, you did the right thing, even if he is a bit dim.

I'm really tired of how damp my apartment is. -
I know, it doesn't seem like it should even be possible, right?
Unfortunately, it is very real. This building is always humid. I think the lowest I've seen it get in the past 18 months is around 60%. That said, it's rained at least every couple of days for the last two months, and the humidity has been steadily climbing. We're supposed to have a week or so of warm, sunny weather, so hopefully, the place will dry out. Cold and damp is not how things are supposed to be. I live in San Antonio, not Gosport, dammit!
-
Man, I’d buy a small Dehumidifier if I were you

Really surprising to read that. Texas & humidity…surprising cocktail...difficult to imagine that...
The general perception of Texas is that it's all a godforsaken desert, but that's not entirely true. The eastern part of the state is wooded lowland and there are lots of marshy areas- it borders Louisiana, so picture that, if it helps, hajduk. Houston was literally built on reclaimed swampland and has a subtropical climate. People there regularly get jungle-type diseases like malaria. It's not pleasant…
That said, San Antonio is in (or near; people quibble about it) what's called the "Hill Country", because it's one of the few areas in the state that isn't flat. The weather is a bit drier, temperatures are a degree or two cooler, and it's generally a nicer place to be than Houston. Still not what I would consider ideal.

Sweet! Let me know when you've decided which weekend. Pretty sure our schedule is wide open at this point.

I found out about the shooting at a synagogue near where I live last night. I am heartbroken. I can't stop crying when I think about it because I feel so sad. 11 elderly people that man killed. It's so senseless. God help us.
