I just spent 2 full nights reading through this thread. Im about to pull the trigger on a pair of boots once i hear back from Kyle at Bakers. My only question though, has anyone noticed a quality difference since the company was sold. Its been about a year now so im hoping someone has a before and after pair to compare.
I was able to try on a pair of Smokejumpers at a local store although their size run was limited, the 10.5EE seemed to fit perfectly. At least in terms of the arch hitting in the right spot and my heel feeling like it was being hugged by the boot. I was very pleased with the fit. I also was able to try on a pair of Wesco pull on boots, the boss model im guessing. I wasnt very pleased with the fit of those at all. Maybe it was just the last but the whites fit way better. Im praying that the boots are of the same quality as the old ones so i dont have to look else where.
I am a bit confused on the sizing though because the only thing I wear a 10.5 or 11 are vans, converse, and nikes. All of my Allen Edmonds, RW, Chips are all 9.5 or 10 E-EEE. Does this sound right? I even have a pair of RW 9111 in a 10D granted the leather is soft and forgiving otherwise i dont think it would have worked at all.
P.S. We need some more pictures of worn in red dog smooth!

@Authentic04 if you really want to be safe (and what's your hurry at this point?) do a tracing and send it to Kyle. And you've already done the best sizing of all, trying on a pair and liking the fit. The only thing you said that threw me off was Red Wing in 10D vs. 10.5EE in White's. I'd think 1/2 size down or same as Red Wings…
Re: difference between before and after sale, I've only purchased "before" - but I don't think much has changed, it's the same boots on the same lasts being made by the same people in the same factory as far as I've heard. Perhaps someone else has actual experience?
Your first pair is the hardest - I understand you want to get it right - but once you're sized right it's real good. Good luck and be sure to post up some pics after you get your boots.

You tried them on and they fit perfectly. Don't second guess that with what size you think you should be wearing, based on other brands. Sizes are almost completely arbitrary, not some sort of scientific absolute.

Thanks guys i appreciate the advise, the only rush now is just getting it actually ordered since it going to take some time for them to be made.
I did tracing according to Bigblackboots advice and it came out to be a 10.5EE. I feel confident with this. Now it just comes down to color choice. Im really into the smooth brown and dress brown but would be into red dog also. Decisions decisions!

Hi @Authentic04 I would normally advise going down a half to a full size from Red Wings US sizing in White's and that's generally always been spot on. Saying that though if you've tried them on and your foot is snugly secure? And the tracing also has you measured at that size then always go with fit over advice. Just seems unusual, but not unheard of. White's should feel snug in the heel, arch and over the top of the foot when you first get them and then they will give and mould to your foot shape correctly.
No changes except speed of completion since the change of ownership, most boots are ready now on average in 4 weeks, so quicker on average and if anything I think the finish has improved. Could just be my experiece though but no loss of quality in any aspect.
Don't have any RD worn pics but have seen them online and it's nice.
Good luck and enjoy!
