@Giles i have a question about the 555 and the 888 cut.
I have one of each and the thigh, knee, and leg opening are pretty much identical. However, the 555 does feel a bit slimmer still. I’m wondering if this is in my head or does the pattern make a difference still even though those measurements are the same…

Do you wear any XHS regularly? If not what's your favorite denim weight?
I have some XHS, but I don't wear it a lot. I have no favourite denim weight, I wear a new pair of jeans when a new denim comes out and wear them for about a year until a new denim is released. If a new denim is available, I wear one I have not worn before. So I have worn just about everthing between 13.5 and 25 and they all my favourite at the time.
Scratch that, the original 18oz raw I specced....

They look pretty different to me.....

@Giles yep, that 18oz raw was the best!

@Giles yes. I totally understand how they are very different cuts and a side by side comparison of the two in roughly the same size should be unique to their individual cut styling.
What I’m wondering though, is if two pair (888 & 555) do happen to have the same thigh, knee and leg opening measurement, (but possibly a different tag size) would the leg be the same in the two pairs or would the 555 somehow still manage a slimmer profile even if those measurements were the same?

@popvulture @Giles i have a pair of og 18oz Busters I got from @ROman that I’ve only just started to wear. I consider myself very fortunate to have a fresh pair so long after they went extinct. The og 18 made the best OD imo as well. Even though they were about two sizes smaller than tag.

No, if those measurements were the same, they would be the same......I've never been able to get a pair of 555's on but have no problems with the 888's, so I'm sort of not sure I understand how they could be the same, but perhaps I am misunderstanding the question......

@Giles I’m sure I’m not explaining myself well…I’m going to try and start over.
I’d like to get a better understanding of leg patterns so that when I read the size charts I can best predict what the leg profile will look like. Know that I have lots of experience with my own preferences and how to measure, I’m looking to fine tune my measurement reading skills.
I currently have two pairs of XHS (888 and 555) but the former is a tag 32 the latter a 33. However, the thigh, knee and leg opening are almost exactly the same. However, the 555 still feel and look slimmer.
I guess I’m wondering, if we remove tag size and waist size from the equation, will matching thigh, knee, and hem produce the same leg profile? Or is there some pattern magic that can still shape the leg differently even if thigh, knee and hem are equal?
-
@Mizmazzle I wonder if the rise has something to do with it, I had two pairs of 555s-19L with the same thigh measurements as my XHS but couldn’t get them to work for me so had to sell them . Super tight in the thigh and a lower front and rear rise measurement .
-
@Mizmazzle. I think hip measurements matter also but we don't account for them. Also where the taper starts from will make a difference of how the thigh will feel.
