Question about midsole color??
There is a pair i want for a decent price but they have a black midsole. I dont want all black, i want a natural midsole. Is the black dyed all the way through? Or is just the edge done? Curious if i could sand away the black color

@den213:
IMO you should grab them as the midsole will darken with wear either way.
Just hate the all black "rubber boot" look. I know it will darken, but id never let it get black

It's just edge dyed, not all the way through. You should be able to remove the black on the surface.

Great news!! How "sure" are you tho??

if it helps you, I'm pretty sure that Chris is correct and you can always ask @Chris at Wesco too

I'm about 99%. I've never seen sole leather dyed all the way through.
Not only is it a pain in the ass to dye leather that thick, it's more economical to stock undyed soles for all boots and then dye the edges if necessary.
But Rocket's right- the definitive answer would be to ask Chris at Wesco…

I'm sure the colour is painted/stained on the edges only. Question is how deep that penetrates the midsole. If it's just on the surface then a bit of sandpaper and you're done. If it stains a millimetre or two into the leather then you'll fuck up the midsole getting it off is my guess. Hope it's the former.

I've done this with my Wesco Boss boots. True story. Sandpaper bro. @pillowPANTS
