First day in my JH Classics and as everytime when wearing new boots I wish they were already broken in. I have a Little heel slip unless I tie them very fast - hopefully this gets better with time. I think it was the same on my Jobmasters.

I now realized that I didn't order the Lace to toe JH classic as I originally intended (it got lost in the further process of building the boot on my behalf). It didn't occur to me until I actually wore them the first time today.
Now I'm not sure wether to Keep them or not. I like them, but the LTT option was what attracted me most. -

What functional advantagies do you see in LTT? Or you just like how does they look? -
Yes, its just the look that i prefer. Also my whites oxfords have a similar shape so the ltt would have been a nice change.

A few pics of the British tan Domane and chestnut brown oil tan leather samples. Both are great but the British tan is a clear winner for me. Both leathers were actually the same thickness but Chris at Wesco said the British tan is generally a tad thinner usually. You can see the pull-up of the British tan after I folded it in half. I took pics of the roughout side as well. One pic was before and after I brushed the nap up with a suede brush. The chestnut brown is stiff, does not stretch, and has no pull-up while the British tan is more flexible, can stretch a bit, and has lots of pull-up.

@spacecadet thank you very much for this info.

Plus one.
This is very useful. I think the domain leathers are always going to be more attractive than the oil-tanned leathers. But the new oil tanned looks a serious step up from the standard brown oil tanned in terms of looks. That combined with the practical qualities of the oil-tanned leather will be tough to beat.

I’m all about the roughout and I think the tan loses something in that config. It’s settled. Burlap it is.

Sure. No problem guys. Oil tan is probably my favorite leather. I already have several pairs of boots in black and brown oil tan. Just prefer the lighter color of the British tan for my next build.

Same here. Oil tan for working boots is just about perfect.

These Standard & Strange horsehide collaboration boots are perfection.
-
Yeah. I wish I could afford them right now. They are really great.
