Just some mink oil.
I rotate mink oil and leather conditioner as Mink oil has a tendency to cause cracking if the leather gets dry, but I do like it’s waterporoofing abilities.

I bought another Wesco, this time Romeo. I call it the “Un-Roller”. Basically the Roller Mag collab without the Roller stamp on the navy leather insert. Will receive in August. My other Horsehide boss boot order comes in July.
The Romeo price wasn’t too bad either.

Anyone know if wesco can build a romeo on the 9109? I think thatd look cool but im not sure ive ever seen a pic of one w a bump toe.
I feel like I’ve seen it done but that maybe only because it should be a thing. I see no reason why not. Drop Chris@Wesco and email and ask. Let us know what he says [emoji1]
For anyone that is interested, I contacted Chris about the inquiry of whether a romeo can be built on the 9109 last. His answer was basically yes, they can do it, but it would need a full midsole and half slip. Based on his answer and the photo he sent me, I think his answer assuming that I was going to build a pair using a wedge sole.
I would probably build mine with a honey lug, and he sent me some photos of romeos with honeys but I was still fuzzy on whether the honey lug with the 9109 would still require the half slip + midsole. He was not able to find any photos of romeos, regardless of sole, built on the 9109 so it must be a rather uncommon request. When I'm finally ready to drop the cash, I'll bug him more about a photo specifically of a romeo on the 9109, as I don't think I would buy a pair without seeing at least one visual.
It took me an awful lot of time to share but I got these romeo's built in fall 2019. Its brown horsehide. The leather is superb (photos do not do horsehide justice) and the boots are great. It is a helluva lot of heel for an ankle boot - Chris assured me that getting the bump toe necessitated all of it, the full heel stack plus the full midsole and the half slip. Overall very happy, although depending on how they wear in I might go with a wedge sole on the next sole.

@mrdiamond thank you! Not only is it great to see other peoples builds but these are of great interest to me personally.
I am considering a pair of Boss with the Vibram 100H and a brown leather. Full heel stack and while west don't offer the half slip as a custom option on their Boss builder, I have always liked it for both comfort and aesthetics. Your pics are convincing me I am on the right track.
Great pair of shoes sir!

Navy Waxed Flesh Warrens

@YesBlank your Wesco boots look great and no doubt have the fit & feel to match

Thanks @den1mhead. I’m really looking forward to how the waxed flesh looks once they’re worn in. They’re greener than I expected in bright light, but that could just be my eyes.

Hey question for anybody who owns a pair of boss boots and Morrison boots:
Is the ankle strap on your boss boots actually functional?
—
I’m thinking about getting a pair of wescos but I can’t decide between the boss and the Morrison.
I like the uncluttered look of the Morrison but if the strap on the boss actually helps with fit and walking comfort then I would go with that.
Thanks in advance

Is the ankle strap on your boss boots actually functional?
Hmmm.. I had a discussion with @Appfaff that touched on this a while ago. I have three Boss on the MP toe with standard instep straps, one pair of Morrisons without, and one pair of Boss with the bump toe and harness straps.
The harness strap plays little to no role in the fit of the boot. It affects the fit not even a a little. I don't strap up my boots with an instep strap when I put them on. I find one that hole that is suitable, buckle them and they stay like that forever. The Morrisons with no strap are perfect. So to my mind the straps play no role in the fit or comfort of the boot.
However, if I remember correctly, @Appfaff unbuckles his and straps them up every time he puts them on. You can certainly tighten the fit of the boot with them, if you need to.
Final observation/caveat. I am not a difficult shoe person. My feet almost never blister, I tolerate the discomfort that comes with new boots well and what I consider a good fit can range from slightly tight to roomy and loose. All my Wesco's have different amounts of toe wiggle and heel slippage and to my mind they all fit fine.
Based on my experience you could safely gib the straps, but if you want a tighter fit and the ability to make adjustments then the strap may be a good idea.

Thanks, execellent information neph93
Did you get a custom fitting from wesco or buy off the rack?
-
@superheavymilk I have either a standard 10.5D or 10.5E in all my Wesco's. I now know that I should do 10.5D in boots with a lighter leather and 10.5E in the oil tanned leathers, but as mentioned, I'm not that fussy.

I don’t use the straps on my boss either. But I have a custom last…
