Now, I try to do so infrequently, but if it needs it, it needs it.
Everyone has, and is entitled to, their own approach, even if it’s moronic (sea washes anyone?) but you won’t find many non-washers around here. I think that trend continues by word of mouth and because some people think there’s some coolness attached to the idea. I think your last sentence represents the most sensible approach. It’s certainly what I do.

Just got this shirt yesterday and love it, but I have one concern. It has a pretty big fabric skip or puncture or something by the sleeve placket. Should I leave this alone, or any idea how to stitch / reinforce it to keep from getting worse? I know I’m annoyingly nit-picky, but it’s their own fault since my seven other IH pieces are all flawless.

Sometimes the overdying process damages the fabric but it doesn’t look like that’s what has happened here. I’d say it was a fault in the weaving or during the sewing that snuck through QC. These things happen.
It’s clearly small but personally, I think you’d be within your rights to ask for an exchange, if it bothers you.
EDIT: btw if it makes any difference, I doubt it’ll get any worse. The exposed threads that have jumped out of the weave may break one day, eventually, but even then it would take a beating to turn that into a tear or hole. I have two pairs of jeans with this kind of thing and chose to live with it. They get worn a lot and it’s never grown into a bigger problem. I also think any attempt at repair would make the irregularity more obvious.

Bothers me a little, but not enough to go through the hassle of an exchange. More wondering if I should do something now to prevent it getting worse, or leave it be. I usually sew up holes but the spot is a bit weird so I’m not sure how to go about it.
Just edited my og post with relevant advice.

Got mine today after sending back an XL for an L. The former was a bit too big in the shoulders, so it bunched in the back, plus the arms were definitely too long for me.
L fits pretty much perfectly, though—so stoked! Doubt I’d be able to fit a UHF under it but then again I live in Texas.

I wear this a couple times a week. Breaking in very slowing. Love it so far, though.

Picked this up from SE on black friday. Finally getting around to snapping a few pics. This shirt is epic, and been getting some good wear.
It seems I wear it more as a coat and layer with UHFs under etc.
